SOUTH METRO YEARBOOK 2016

Coach Rocket reinforced the principles of respect, determination, pride and even the
ANZAC spirit as the team were at times disheartened. The boys soldiered on and
finished the season as a team who showed doggedness and grit as they faced adversity.
After travelling from beyond Mandurah to coach this team, distance and time factors
have proved stressful and led Rocket to make the hard decision to stand down at the
end of 2016. Amy has also decided to take a well-earned break from managing. We
know that Rocket and Amy will always be supportive parents and wish them the very
best.
Y10 2016
Kevin Back as Coach, assisted by Vance Thowless certainly proved a winning
combination for our Y10 side this year. Coming off the back of a fairly quiet season in
2015, Kev, Vance and the boys worked hard and rebuilt as they launched into 2016 with
a bang!
Carmen Taylor, debuted as Team Manager. Not only new to the role, but also quite new
to the sport itself; Carmen did an excellent job and went above and beyond what the
club expects from a manager.
The team had an absolutely brilliant season!! Following grading, the boys were
undefeated throughout the Home and Away fixtured season. Some matches saw huge
wins, some were close shaves … with the boys earning top position on the ladder as
they entered the Fremantle Conference Finals Series.
Parent support for this side was also strong. Many regular faces filling match day roles
consistently and running successful fundraising activities.
A semi-final loss to Winnacott proved to be only a minor setback for this team of
champions- as they bounced back with a resounding Preliminary Final win against
Bullcreek Leeming. This win led them to again meet Winnacott, in the Grand Final
