out according to His purpose and not our own. Sometimes not<br />

knowing the will or plan of God has an adverse effect on our faith<br />

life. Other times knowing what God has called us to be is equally<br />

as daunting with the weight of increasing responsibility because<br />

of what we already know.<br />

The Spirit of Reluctance<br />

It is no wonder that Jeremiah is initially plagued by the spirit of<br />

reluctance as he is called into a purpose and position that he does<br />

not understand. It’s funny how this happens but reluctance has<br />

the ability to disable one’s willingness to accept the opportunity<br />

even when you know it is the call of God on your life.<br />

“Then said I, ah oh Lord, behold I cannot speak for I am a child” –<br />

Jeremiah 1:6<br />

Often it is not just the age or youth that God intends to use, but<br />

the mouth in a person that is willing to walk in confident<br />

obedience to Him. Reluctance manages to raise enough doubt in<br />

our faith life to leave us unsure of taking the next steps. It is not<br />

that we do not understand what God desires, but it is the<br />

confidence to engage the path of His desire. We must all seek the<br />
