Community Your Official Newsletter Feature Advertiser Taurus Taekwon-Do 231 Forge Road SE Calgary I’ve recently had my two girls join Taurus Taekwon-Do on 231 Forge Road SE and was pleasantly surprised at how amazing this business is. So impressed, that I, as the publisher of this newsletter, wanted to do a write up on their program to hopefully help bring awareness of the exciting and inspiring methods and training Taurus TKD offers their clients. Below is my interview with Owner and operator, Mr. Robert Joseph Scott. Q: Why did you start Taurus TKD? A: I was cut from the Varsity Volley Ball Team in Grade 11 and was introduced to TKD by a good friend of mine who hid his interest as to not get teased. He quit and picked up a guitar while I stayed with it. Q: With so many Martial Arts Studios in Calgary, what does Taurus TKD offer that no one else does? A: Experience. Two time coach for Team Canada (Australia 2006/ Puerto Rico 2009). One on One black belt instruction for beginners. Disciplined yet relaxed family atmosphere. Knowledge. Over 20 years instructing experience. 6th Degree Black Belt. Instructed seminars in Canada, U.S., Malaysia, Singapore. Q: What makes your classes work? A: We teach a wide variety of kicking and punching techniques: Sparring Drills, Self Defence and Bag Work. We pay particular attention to Body Mechanics and Pattern Technique. We are science based. We explain the tool, purpose and method of each technique clearly for proper application. Q: how long should someone stay with the program? A: Taurus TKD has a high success rate which accounts for our many black belts, instructors and assistant instructors. A student should stay in the program for as long as they feel they are achieving their goals, whether it be losing weight, learning self defence, or achieving the rank of black belt. Well...all I have to say is that my girls absolutely LOVE going to Taurus Taekwon-Do. They are having a blast and gaining so much strength both inside and out...and to me, that’s what counts!
