01 SWACC 30 th Anniversary MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT Ed Maduli President of SWACC Dear Colleagues, On behalf of the Statewide Association of Community Colleges (SWACC) we are pleased to provide you with the 2015/16 Annual Summary. 2015/16 was a continuation of our proud record of thirty years of success, setting the stage for our bright future. During the program year, in spite of market challenges, liability rates decreased 2% and property rates decreased 5.1%. Equally impressive is SWACC’s net position remained in excess of $25M, even after giving rebates to members in the amount of $4.1M. Operationally, 2015/16 was a pivotal year in the successful transition of SWACC leadership. We also continued our work on the 2014-16 strategic plan, which was developed with representation from 33 colleges. We continue to: • Support the work of the HR Committee including the development of live and video training programs to address our employment practice liability exposures; • Research and develop programs and resources for addressing Title IX (inclusive of Sexual Violence);
SWACC 30 th Anniversary 02 • Finalize the Leading Indicators Incentive program to assist target districts in improving their loss experience for their and SWACC’s benefit; and • Evolve the SWACC Annual Conference based on member driven panel discussions. It is an honor to serve as your President and I thank all of you for your hard work and dedication to insure SWACC remains the premier insurance and risk management program for California Community Colleges.
