How are we already in May? This year is going far too quickly and
I cannot believe we are already thinking about Ladies Day! I have
been going with my Mum every year since I was about 17 and the
highlight for me is most definitely the fashion. I love choosing a
dress and picking a whacky hat or fascinator and if the sun’s shining,
it’s a great day out. We really are lucky to live so close to the town
which is famed for being the ‘home of horseracing’.
This month, I have spoken to various local fashion retailers to hear
their top tips about dressing for a day at the races, so if you’re
struggling for inspiration, take a look at page 54 to hear from the
likes of Javelin, Giulio, Nicola Sexton, Newmarket Hat Hire, Racing
Hat Hire, Hobbs, John Lewis, Martha V and Cream of Royston.
Talking of racing, there’s an overview on the different ways of
enjoying a day at the racecourse (page 34) as well as some of the
best places to dine and stay in and around Newmarket if you’re not
local to the area (page 37).

which means it’s high time we all celebrated with a barbie and glass
of homegrown English wine! As if we really needed an excuse…
