The Vogel family’s colorful efforts
to beautify Iowa resulted in a recent
statewide recognition.
The owners of the Orange
City-based Vogel Paint Inc. were
honored as the 2016 Donald F.
Lamberti Hometown Pride Vision
Award winners during an October
luncheon in Des Moines.
The award was presented by
Iowa Gov. Terry Branstad on
behalf of Keep Iowa Beautiful,
the Hawkeye State’s chapter of
Keep America Beautiful, a national
nonprofit community improvement
organization.
Keep Iowa Beautiful first presented
the Hometown Pride Vision Award
— recognizing those who work to
improve and enhance the quality
of the state — in 2013. The honor
is named after its initial recipient,
Donald F. Lamberti, co-founder of
Casey’s General Stores.

August,” Vogel said.
After that, the second and third phases of
the expansion will commence.
While the first stage is
focused more on adding
space to the building, the
second and third aspects
are all about equipment.
According to Vogel,
the expansion includes
adding 50 percent more
equipment.
“We’re hoping that will
fill the new plant,” he said.
The second and third
phases of the project will
amount to about $5 million
apiece.
Vogel Paint Inc. has eight production facilities
and more than 65 service centers in the
central United States under the brand names
Diamond Vogel, Old Masters, Van Sickle, Peridium
Powder Coatings, Pinnacle Protective
Coatings and Axis Performance Coatings.
The business, which employs approximately
850 workers — about 330 of whom
work in Orange City — has been painting a
legacy of success since 1926.
The company prides itself on its passion,
work ethic and stubbornness, which
was displayed by founder
Andrew Vogel, Drew’s
grandfather.
Those traits still are
respected nine decades
later and Vogel Paint
Inc.’s attributes certainly
are paying off.

customer list, resulting in more satisfied
customers.”
