Playgrounds
A venue to play, time to play, companions to play
with, and ways to play - these are the four
elements in a rich play environment.
Playgrounds, which are easily found in parks,
schools, childcare facilities, institutions, multiple
family dwellings, restaurants, resorts, and other
public spaces, are important places for children
to play in.
The Pasir Ris Park and West Coast Park, among
several other parks, are popular for their large
playgrounds and open spaces. An exciting variety
of play equipment such as slides, monkey bars,
swings and wall-climbing facilities can be found
in such playgrounds.

Research shows that children develop their social
skills, physical coordination, strength and flexibility
through play and playgrounds are among the most
important environments for children’s recreational
moments outside their homes.
These stamps (1st Local, 50¢, 65¢, 80¢, $1.10 and $2.00),
illustrate common locations for playgrounds in
Singapore, namely, West Coast Park (parallel to
West Coast Highway opposite McDonalds), Toa Payoh
Dragon Head Playground (Junction of Kim Keat Link
and Toa Payoh Lorong 6), Sengkang Sculpture Park
(Compassvale North Gate neighbourhood), Vivo City
Playground, Pasir Ris Park and Hindhede Nature
Park (Bukit Timah Nature Reserve).
