Roald Dahl<br />

Described as “one of the greatest<br />
storytellers for children of the<br />
20th century”, Dahl is one of the<br />
most consistently popular UK<br />
authors of children’s books, but<br />
also wrote very successful fiction<br />
for adults, an autobiography<br />
and screenplays.<br />
Many of Dahl’s best loved stories<br />
have been illustrated by Quentin<br />
Blake. For the stamps six of Dahl’s<br />
most popular children’s stories<br />
were selected. Magpie Studio<br />
cropped the image to fit the frame<br />
and added the Queen’s head, value<br />
and caption using the official<br />
Roald Dahl typeface. The book title<br />
is in Blake’s own handwriting.<br />

If wizard wheezes and tales of derringdo<br />

comics that we turned. For over a century,<br />
Britain’s uniquely eccentric comics have<br />
brought cheer to generations of readers.<br />
More importantly it has presented many of<br />
us with a list of characters that, like the<br />
memories of those comics themselves,<br />
remain with us throughout our lives.<br />

opportunity to celebrate this great British<br />
institution, and some of the quite unique<br />
and iconic characters that have become<br />
