HIS HOUSE CHANGED MY LIFE!
17
“Imagine making a difference
in the lives of the children at
His House, where you can help
put a smile on somebody’s face;
where you can provide
somebody with something they
never had. Imagine the different
success stories you’ll be able to
hear in the years to come.”
Agnes Saint Preux, a former resident
of His House Children’s Home has
much to be grateful for as she reflects
on the many blessings she has
received and how far God has brought
her.
Agnes entered the foster care
system at a very young age after both
of her parents died. She frequently
moved from one foster home to
another. At age 14, she was in an
abusive relationship and became
pregnant. Agnes found herself
separated from her baby because very
few facilities are equipped to
accept both teenage mothers and
children. After she moved to His
House, where it is always our goal to
keep families together, Agnes was
reunited with her baby, and they both
resided at His House for the next year.
At His House, Agnes found a safe,
loving place to call home and started
to believe that she could overcome her
past and become all God had
created her to be. She learned
important life skills such as managing
money, cooking, dressing
appropriately and developing healthy
self-esteem. Her joy was restored and
she began to look forward to a bright
future. With much encouragement,
and the help and support of His House
staff, mentors and volunteers, Agnes
was inspired to go to college. Having
graduated from Miami-Dade College
with an associate degree, Agnes is
now enrolled at Florida International
University, Studying Sociology with a
minor in Journalism. With a passion to
give back and make a difference in the
lives of others, Agnes now
mentors children, especially foster
kids. She lets them know that they too
can overcome any situation, get a
college education and aspire to be
their best selves.
Agnes is very appreciative of the
stable home His House provided for
her and her baby, and cannot imagine
what life would have been like without it.
