After walking around the city, we came back to the hotel
post-dinner and the lift hauls us upstairs to a corner room.
It’s big —not for a normal hotel, necessarily, but definitely
for the price. The design is simple but chic: hangers on an
open rail, a large king bed with Artemide lights and the
bathroom is small but well equipped: a huge rainfall
shower, organic toiletries with fresh lemon smell and
extremely fluffy towels.
Our room is facing the train tracks but the windows did
a good job cancelling the noise. The mattress is so
comfortable with its 100% Egyptian cotton linen and box
spring bed. We were too exhausted to enjoy the flat
screen TV with entertainment (in English, no less) so we
fell blissfully asleep.
After our good night’s sleep, we head downstairs at the
lobby which have now been transformed into breakfast
area. Like the rooms, the breakfast is affordably priced too
especially because it’s a buffet. Waiters in trendy slashedshoulder
aprons whirl between blue and brown chairs and
tables and the buffet area.
The selection — seeded organic rye bread with organic
Andechser cheese from the Bavarian Alpine Foreland, or
an organic bread roll with ham and tomato. We’re a bit of
a sweet tooth, so we were headed straight to the fresh
croissants with organic Alnatura jam, sweet buns and
moist Bundt cake.
As for drinks, there's not only chilled water, organic
apple juice and Fairtrade orange juice, but also gourmet
teas from Eilles as well as Fairtrade organic coffee.
