The second: That which is artificial and is <strong>the</strong> product of learning, as<br />
one learns to sing using all types of invented airs and meters, which<br />
were disliked by <strong>the</strong> Salaf and <strong>the</strong> evidences of its being disliked are<br />

Chapter<br />
Regarding His 0, Guidance<br />
in Visiting <strong>the</strong> Sick<br />
He used to visit those of his Companions 4 who were sick; and he<br />
visited a boy who used to serve him from among <strong>the</strong> People of <strong>the</strong><br />
Scripture"' and he visited his uncle, who was a poly<strong>the</strong>ist 121 and he<br />
invited <strong>the</strong>m both to Islam and <strong>the</strong> Jew accepted Islam.<br />
He would come close to <strong>the</strong> sick person and sit at his head and ask<br />
him how he was; and he would stroke <strong>the</strong> sick person with his right<br />
hand and say:<br />

"<strong>Al</strong>lahumma, Rabban-Nas! Adhhibil-Basa Washfi; Antash-Shafi, La<br />
Shifa' Illa Shifa'uka, Shifa'un La Yughadiru Sagman"<br />
"Oh, <strong>Al</strong>lah, Lord of <strong>the</strong> people, take away <strong>the</strong> disease and cure<br />
him; You are <strong>the</strong> One Who cures and <strong>the</strong>re is no cure except<br />
Your Cure — a cure that leaves no disease." E 31<br />
And he used to supplicate <strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong> sick person three times, as when he<br />
said: "Oh, <strong>Al</strong>lah! Cure Said" three times. 141 And when he visited a<br />
sick person, he would say:<br />
