<strong>2016</strong> INTER-COLLEGE<br />
SPORT REPORT<br />
26 <strong>New</strong>’n’<strong>Old</strong> <strong>2016</strong><br />
<strong>New</strong> College had a fantastic year of<br />
sport in <strong>2016</strong>. Hitting the ground<br />
running, the men’s cricket team<br />
made it to the Inter-College Cricket Grand<br />
Final for the fifth consecutive year only<br />
to be narrowly defeated in a well-played<br />
game against Warrane College. But<br />
Collegians continued the enthusiasm,<br />
with Men’s and Women’s teams<br />
participating in ten Inter-college sporting<br />
competitions over the course of the year.<br />
The Women’s team won the Tennis<br />
Premiership in a brilliant showdown<br />
while the Men’s team brought home<br />
the Basketball Premiership in another<br />
excellent competition. College spirit<br />
has supported the teams all throughout<br />
the year with many a resident donning<br />
their jerseys and painting their faces to<br />
show their <strong>New</strong> College pride from the<br />
sidelines.<br />
In a game that will surely go down<br />
in <strong>New</strong> College history, the Men’s<br />
Soccer team secured an underdog<br />
win against rival Warrane College<br />
to win the Grand Final and Soccer<br />
Premiership. It came down to a nail<br />
biting penalty shootout that had all<br />
of college on the edge of their seats. A<br />
huge congratulations to all those who<br />
played during the semester and special<br />
credit due to Tim Davis, Captain and<br />
Coach of the Soccer team. The intense<br />
game and electric evening will be one<br />
to remember for many years to come!<br />
A truly memorable year and<br />
incredible effort from all those who<br />
have played or came to support.<br />
