ALUMNI REUNION
On Saturday, 22 October 2016
alumni of New College and NCV
gathered for a relaxed reunion.
Starting with a BBQ and gradually
segueing to afternoon drinks
and canapés, over 150 alumni
and friends of the College came
together for the event, which was
held at NCV.

This was also an opportunity for the extended
New College community of alumni and
friends to mark the end of an era as Prof
Trevor Cairney finished up as Master of the
College. Several members of the alumni spoke at the
event reflecting on their College experience and also
paying tribute to Trevor, thanking him for his role in
their lives. The speakers representing the alumni were
Dr Sam Wills 2003–05, Dr Kim Hoa Rogers (2004–07),
Dr Michael Sturm (NCV 2011–14) and New College
Chairman, Rev Canon Bruce Morrison (NC 1978–79).
A number of former staff of the College were in
attendance, including Dr Alan Beavis OAM (4th Master
of New College), two former Deans of Residents,
Dr Ian Walker and Dr James Pietsch, former Bursar
(Ken Barnes) and former Communications and Alumni
Co-ordinator, Mr Mark Fairfull. Significant former
staff of the university were also represented including
Prof Mark Wainwright (former Vice-Chancellor, UNSW)
and Dr Jessica Milner (former Deputy Chancellor
and then Pro Chancellor, UNSW) David and Emeritus
Professor Jeremy Davis.
