When you are
preparing your
horse for the show ring
there are things that you
can do to enhance your
results and things best
avoided.
Developing a fabulous top-line,
presence and carriage can only
be achieved if the horse truly
works through from behind into a
light contact. Side reins and other
‘front end’ aids do not encourage
engagement and often result in the
horse becoming downhill or on the
forehand – the equine ‘wheelbarrow’.
Reminding the horse to step through
with an active hind leg is vital. A fixed
hind piece is soon ignored and sensory
nerves switch off whilst a moving hind
piece constantly reminds the horse to
keep stepping forwards. Add to this a
soft, communicating and equal contact
that invites the horse to take the
contact forwards and relax the underneck
muscles and you can see how the
EquiAmi, with no fixed points, develops
balance, swing and core strength in a
very relaxed way.
Needing no adjustment for rein
changes allows the operator to
change rein frequently and increase
or decrease the circle size knowing
that the contact will remain equal
yet not fixed. The small safety loop
prevents the hind leg action adversely
affecting the mouth whilst allowing
communication around the horse.
Attaching the lunge rein to the
cavesson preserves the equal contact
and prevents nose tilt.
Used regularly for top results by
leading show producers, eventers,
dressage riders and in the retraining
