How did you start
playing baseball?
It was in the family. My
two brothers played baseball
before me, and when it came
time for T-ball, I obviously
wanted to play to be like my
two older brothers.
What do you like about
it?
I like the competitive nature
of the game. Sometimes
I’m too much of a competitor
on the mound, but I just
love playing the game, especially
being a pitcher. It’s
just you and everyone else
is watching you. It just feels
good.
Do you have a favorite
moment from the
season so far?
Two weeks ago against
[Homewood-Flossmoor],
I had a perfect game going
into the seventh inning,
and that was the closest
I’d ever been to throwing
a perfect game. I mean, I
blew it, but it was still the
closest I’d ever been, so it
was fun.
What are your goals for
the season?
My individual goals are
mainly for the team. I just
want us to keep doing what
we’re doing and keep winning
all the games we have
left — especially the conference
games — and continue
it into the playoffs.
Do you have any
pregame rituals?
I’m kind of an introvert
when it comes to the games
I start. I usually like to be by
myself and get myself in the
zone. I keep to myself, so
when it comes time to start
warming up and get ready
for the game, I’m there.
If you won the lottery
right now, what would
be the first thing you
bought?
I’d buy my parents a new
house. I’d ask my parents
what they want with the
money for sure first. They
got me to where I am now,
so I’d give them something
first.
If you had an allexpenses
paid trip to
anywhere in the world,
where would you go?
Erin Redmond/22nd Century Media
Hawaii, for sure. It’s just
the best.
Are you more of a cat
person or a dog person?
Cat person, for sure. I have
one cat; his name is Blacko,
he’s a black cat. He [should
be] Pet of the Week, too.
If you could hangout
with any cartoon
character for a day, who
would you choose?
I would definitely hangout
with Scooby and Shaggy.
That was my favorite cartoon
growing up. I would
love to eat a Scooby Snack
to see what it tastes like.
What are your plans for
after graduation?
I haven’t selected a college
yet, but I do plan on
moving on and playing baseball
in college somewhere.
