As the season glides to a close and many of you get ready to travel
back to your tepid temperatures, the social scene here in the Desert
couldn’t be hotter! I really need a lot more than two pages to cover
only the events and activities I was able to attend, much less all the
other wonderful ones I could not! Several things come to mind this
week as I am running in so many directions. The reasons for being
involved are varied to be sure and mine certainly are. But one has to
really take note of these motivations and balance the importance to
their own life with regard to how it will potentially improve some part
of them or those around them or, conversely, how it might even be
counter productive.
I am the worst at saying no. I just can’t seem to do it. Why? Because
i have major FOMO (Fear of Missing Out)! Now, I say this to
be a bit funny but what I really mean is that if I dare say no to something,
I feel I would be missing out on creating a potential opportunity,
or causing someone else to miss out on an opportunity that I could
help create for them. What I have forgotten is that create is the
important word here. We don’t have to be at a certain place or with
the right people or at every event under the sun to create wonderful
things. Choose the things that will make the most impact on you and
yours and leave room for others to do the same. In the simplest way
you are creating exactly what needs to be in your life.
As always, this column is meant to inspire and create a conversation
about so many of the wonderful events and goings on in our Desert
valley. Through the rich and fully created lives of myself, my family
and friends, I hope to lead the charge to change. Change within
yourself, change within our community, and change within those who
need us...need us to be involved...need us to support, and need us
to reach within and pull out all the best parts of ourselves and utilize
them for the greater good.
