Again, through our special relationship with the T-Team, our editor JB got invited along. And he was so glad he was, as the Outback ride became his ride of the year. Australia is no hidden gem but sometimes it might just be a little underrated – in the words of the Australians themselves: the country is ‘sensational’. more distant. no, we were agreed, travel is not about trophies, not about land<br />
speed records. So far we’d delighted in our ride through Southern australia,<br />
taking the time to get off our bikes, to investigate, to spend time with the locals.<br />
To absorb. To relax. alice Springs, we decided, could wait for another day.<br />
So, still in part against our desires – turning back toward Melbourne was in<br />
itself an act of facing up to the end of the adventure – we headed south.<br />
Of course we dragged our heels, making a lazy sweep through the verdant<br />
green Barossa and McLaren valleys, a wine-growing region that surrounds<br />
adelaide – so genteel after the rugged simplicity of the Outback.<br />
