Members of the class of ’62, Westfield
State University, are planning mini informal
get togethers throughout 2012. The
January setting will be at the Northampton
Clarion Hotel, located at Exit 18, Route 91.
Taking advantage of a Jazz Sunday, with
the Ed Mari Jazz Ensemble, the classmates
will meet in the Loft Lounge at the clarion
from 4 to 7 p.m. on Jan. 22.
The February site and date will be decided
by the group at the January gathering.
The organizers; Bunny, Betsy, Ronnie,
Danny, Sarah et al are looking forward to
saying hello to friends from college days at
Westfield State.

Granby waste reduction program Democrats will
hold caucus
GRANBY – The Granby Public
Library is gearing up for its Granby
Waste Reduction Program to be held on
Saturday, Jan. 28 from 11 a.m. to noon.
The program will encourage youth
and families to recycle as Granby comes
upon the start of a new Waste Reduction
Program (February 2012). Landfill
Monitor, Carol Battersby will be the special
guest.
Fun, creative ways to reduce, reuse
and recycle will be introduced to young
families with stories and hands on activities.
Have your own questions answered
too. Little kids can help in big ways!
Pick up a “Paper bag Decorating Contest
Sheet” and a “Love the Earth Checklist.”
Participants will earn free raffle tickets
and prizes. Young recyclers are invited
to drop in.

In-Stitches knitting group feature
winter hat project for February
GRANBY – Granby Public Library’s
“In-Stitches” knitting group is inviting
knitters to join them and learn to knit a
new project each month throughout the
new year.
Starting on Wednesday, Feb. 1 they will
feature lessons on how to make a cabled
hat for yourself or someone you love. The
pattern will be provided so just grab your
size 7 circular needles and a skein of worsted
weight yarn and join our fun group.
The group meets every Wednesday at
2 p.m. For more information please call

GRANBY - Democrats in Granby
will be holding a caucus at 257 East
State St., Aldrich Hall on Saturday,
Feb. 11 at 10 a.m. to elect delegates
to the 2012 Massachusetts Democratic
Party’s nominating convention.
The Granby Democratic Caucus
will elect three delegates and three
alternates to the 2012 Massachusetts
Democratic Convention. Delegates will
be divided equally between men and
women. The caucus is open to all registered

Library’s winter
storytimes and
playgroups
GRANBY - Playgroup Time is back
to Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m. at Granby
Library. Drop in to play every week!
After a brief switch to Friday mornings,
they are back to Wednesdays. This
is a great time for caregivers to chat
with other caregivers and for children
to socialize. The group is self-run and
dependent on caregivers who come to
encourage friends to join in!
Preschool Storytimes return to
Friday mornings at 10:30 a.m. Drop in!
Playtime, storytime, and craft time for
children ages 3 to 5 years old. Dates are
on Jan. 27, Feb. 3,10, 17 (no storytime
Feb. 24 vacation week) March 2, 9, 16,
23 and 30.
