In its mission to resolve costs disputes and speed up
delays CADR appoints leading Manchester profit
improvement lawyer as Non-Executive Director
CADR has come a long
way in the last three years.
From a new start up in an
emerging market, now to
being the accepted standard
for costs mediations.
In the beginning, it was
hard to convince most costs
practitioners to accept that
there was a viable alternative
to the slow, expensive
and drawn out
detailed/provisional costs
assessment process but the
concept is now accepted as
a legitimate alternative solution.
The attitude of the judiciary,
in particular the Costs
Judges themselves, has
helped this forward thinking
move by penalising parties
for failing to engage in
ADR in a contentious Costs
environment.
New enquiries and in particular,
repeat business, means
that CADR’s respected mediators
are increasingly busy
across the UK.
Former leading Costs Judge
and now Costs Mediator,
Colin Campbell says, "When
I retired from the Senior
Courts Costs Office, I
thought that I would be skiing,
watching cricket or
writing for the Costs Law
Reports but from the start,
my life has been increasingly
involved with CADR."
CADR has aspirations for
continued expansion and to
assist the legal sector further
by increasing efficiencies
in costs disputes,
reducing the ‘costs of the
costs’, speeding up the cash
flow cycle and assisting in
freeing up working capital
for many law firms.
To achieve this, the Directors
of CADR are delighted
to appoint Manchester
Lawyer Lesley Graves to the
board as a Non-Executive
Director.
Lesley is a practising solicitor
and the managing director
of Citadel Law, based in
Manchester’s Spinningfields,
the only advisory law
firm focused on supporting
the personal injury sector.
Having advised on personal
injury WIP exceeding
£450M, Lesley is the leading
and trusted advisor on
profit improvement, technical
and operational performance
and WIP
valuation.
Lesley’s commitment to
supporting the personal injury
sector through unprecedented
change and
maximising profitability has
led to her being the leading
“go to” advisory lawyer in
her field dedicated to supporting
the industry.
"I am delighted to be joining
CADR at such an exciting
time. The traditional way
of resolving costs disputes is
no longer the only, or most
profitable, way. Litigation
practitioners face a different
world today than they did
five years ago. Resolving
costs quickly and cost effectively
is the bloodline of all
businesses and CADR leads
the way in supporting the
legal sector - which is perfectly
aligned and non conflicting
with the firms I
advise."
“It’s a natural step for CADR
for to take. We needed
Lesley Graves
someone to help us take
CADR to the next level and
Lesley fits the bill perfectly"
says Nicholas Clark, Director,
CADR. He points out "Dramatic
change is set for October
2017. Those wishing
to avoid the mandatory requirement
for the use of the
new electronic Bill of Costs
and the ongoing uncertainty
over proportionality
will find CADR an attractive
solution; let alone those already
attempting to avoid
significant delays in a
stretched Court system and
increased Court fees. Together,
with Lesley, and
through engaging with our
clientele, we remain committed
in providing a useful
and efficient alternative to
the Court process.”
CADR’s commitment to provide
an outcome for all parties
in litigation that is
prompt, certain and positive
- with key performance
indicators that provide
commercial and expedient
outcomes - is top of their
agenda.
