insurance providers, communication providers, and<br />

more. If you provide a support service or product that<br />

is truly innovative, launched or carried out within the<br />

catchment period, it is eligible.<br />

In your entry please state what makes this service<br />

unique and/or innovative. The judges will be looking<br />

at criteria including, but not limited to, the following:<br />

• Cost-effi ciency results for a client<br />

• Other efficiency improvements<br />

• Environmental effects/advantages<br />

• Regulation requirements/adherence<br />

• Groundbreaking R&D – this needs to be proved to<br />

meet specific project/client needs.<br />

New markets award<br />

The winner will be the most innovative in using novel/<br />

existing equipment or technology in a new way or a<br />

new region. This could include repurposing vessels,<br />

equipment or products for the renewables market, or<br />

adapting/redesigning land-based equipment for a<br />

marine environment, or carrying out research that<br />

opens up market sectors or opportunities.<br />

Working, Building or Engineering with<br />

Nature award<br />

Projects that are part of accredited existing Working<br />

With Nature, Building With Nature, or Engineering<br />

With Nature schemes are automatically eligible for this<br />

category. This does not preclude other non-port/<br />

non-terminal project candidates, but they will need to<br />

demonstrate an active and innovative response to the<br />

preservation and promotion of the areas listed below.<br />

The entry should address at least one of these criteria:<br />

• Wildlife – protect, maintain or restore aquatic<br />

ecosystems and marine habitats. The whole marine<br />

environment<br />

• Air – reduce harmful air emissions from port<br />

activities. Not just CO 2 and NO x but also PM, SO x , etc<br />

• Water – improve the quality of rivers, seas, oceans,<br />

but also port basins; water as a resource for living<br />

• Soils/sediments – remove, treat, or render suitable<br />

for benefi cial reuse contaminated soils and<br />

sediments in the harbour district<br />

• Community engagement – interact with and<br />

educate the community regarding port operations<br />

and environmental programmes, ‘social responsibility’<br />

• Sustainability – implement sustainable practices in<br />

design and construction, operations, and<br />

administrative practices.<br />

If you have created or undertaken work on a vessel,<br />

piece of equipment, or project between 1 July 2016 and<br />

30 June 2017, you are eligible to enter. If you have any<br />
