Condor – Your Low-Fare Leisure Airline
Condor is a German airline that wants to pamper you with excellent German quality. Originally
launched as a charter airline, Condor has now transformed itself into a leisure airline operating
to more than 70 fantastic holiday destinations around the world.
Condor’s first flight took off in 1956. From 1959,
Lufthansa entered as a main shareholder. The
name Condor has been in use since 1961. A
name change was tried out at a later stage,
but the old name was reintroduced – because
customers know, trust and love Condor.
Nowadays, Condor operates as a standalone
leisure airline as part of the Thomas Cook
Group. Lufthansa sold all its shares in the
airline in 2009, however cooperation with
Lufthansa continues on a daily basis and the
business partnership benefits both airlines.
Condor’s home-base in Germany is in Frankfurt/Main.
All the long-haul flights depart
from here. Frankfurt is the biggest airport in
Germany and after Lufthansa, Condor is the
biggest customer at this airport. Short- and
medium-haul flights depart from many German
airports, including Munich.
What does Condor have to offer
to customers in the Baltics?
Condor has a great product for Baltic customers
– through-fares for routes starting from
Tallinn, Riga and Vilnius to Condor’s long-haul
network, with Lufthansa operating the first
flight to Frankfurt. Thanks to an existing eticketing
agreement with Lufthansa, all travel
agents can easily issue tickets with these fares.
Lufthansa is the partner that carries Condor’s
customers from the Baltic capitals to its bases
in Germany. Customers do not have to wait
long to connect from one flight to another.
Lufthansa launched a second daily flight on
its Vilnius-Frankfurt route at the end of March
2011, making the connections from Lithuania
into the Condor network even better.
Condor positions itself as “leisure airline”,
which not only means that it operates directs
flights to holiday destinations, but also at
affordable prices and a high standard of
comfort. All of Condor’s flights are bookable
using GDSs and tickets can be booked as
“seat- only” without a hotel package. Condor
also cooperates with many well known Tour
Operators, who purchase a share of the seats
on each aircraft.
Can you tell us more about
Condor’s fleet and classes?
The airline operates a fleet consisting of nine
Boeing 767-300s, 13 Boeing 757-300s and 12
Airbus A320s.
The Boeing 767-300s, utilized on long-haul
routes, can operate with a full load up to a
range of 10,000 km. Condor has lots of experience
operating long-haul routes. Condor is
Europe’s leading airline to the Caribbean. It
was also the world’s first leisure airline to have
a Boeing 747, the “Jumbo”, in its fleet.
Three different on-board service classes
are offered on long-haul flights: Economy,
Premium Economy and Comfort Class.
Depending on the time of day, Condor offers
free delicious hot and cold meals. On certain
routes, you can choose from a selection of
different menus. In addition to the regular
on-board service, snacks are also on sale on
many flights. All non-alcoholic beverages
are free of charge, and a free cocktail is also
offered on long-haul flights
On-board entertainment is extensive on all aircraft:
route information via monitor (air show),
a multi-facetted audio and video program that
can be used with ordinary walkman earphones
and an on-board camera broadcasts take-off
and landing live.
World premier, Condor will be the first airline
to introduce a new WiFi on-board entertainment
system. This system will be initially
installed on all B 767-300 aircraft.
Should you value more comfort during your
flight, we suggest choosing our Premium
Economy Class or – even better – our Comfort
Class. In our Premium Economy Class
you can look forward to 35 comfortable
seats with 15cm larger seat pitch than in the
regular Economy Class. You also get a choice
Premium menu as well as additional free
services, such as alcoholic beverages with
the meals, cocktail service with snack, a
wide range of magazines, free headset and
much more.

Comfort Class seats not only look elegant

You can also look forward to flying in a “home
cinema”. As a Comfort Class guest, you have
personal access to a portable DVD player with
swivelling 10-inch screen. Enjoy your own
individual entertainment program in highresolution
quality and select from six blockbuster
films. Your Comfort Class experience
is completed by first-class service. We make
sure that you are exquisitely attended to, so
that you reach the destination of your dreams
perfectly relaxed.
Is it possible to
pre-book these seats?
Yes. One benefit for customers flying in Premium
Economy Class and Comfort Class is the
possibility to pre-book seats. Economy-class
passengers can do it as well, but for €10 per
person each way for short- and medium-haul
flights or €15 per person each way for longhaul
flights.
However, if you are travelling with children
under the age of two, the whole family is
offered free seat reservation. We recommend
making seat reservations right after ticket
purchase as seats cannot be booked later than
48 hours prior to departure.

Is it possible to earn as a frequent flyer?
Condor is a partner in the Miles & More
frequent flyer program and you will earn
valuable miles on every Condor flight you
take. Simply present your Miles & More card
at the check-in counters or departure gate in
Germany and the total miles for your round
trip will be credited to your account within
four weeks.
You can also spend your collected miles with
Condor, such as upgrading to Comfort Class or
use with other Miles & More partners.
Condor has a strong market position and
brand awareness throughout Europe and the
World. The airline positions itself strategically
as a Low Fare Quality Airline. To be able
to achieve this and offer low fares, the airline
continuously aims to lower its costs and as
a result has succeeded to reduce unit costs
by 15% within the last three years. Organisation
is kept lean and flexible. Being part of
the Thomas Cook Group also helps due to
the large purchasing power of the whole
group. The airline’s cost structure is currently
comparable to that of easyJet and Air Berlin.
