February 2017
Welcome to our partnership network. Thanks to your support,
we can take education to far reaching areas, but with
such distance between you and our students, we want to
make sure to keep you connected. Each month you’ll receive
updates on what’s happening, notes from our students,
and ways to plug in. Here’s a quick update from Karina:
First day of class
in Jocoanl on
January 16, 2017.
This year has started off very well. The students are more than comfortable
in their classes. We have planned some new workshops, so the students
will be learning more about nutrition, math, and financial management.
Our reading program is already underway. Also, we’ve brought on a new member
of the team, Lucia. The students are learning a lot from her. We are excited
for all this year has in store and look forward to sharing it with you.

Alba Martinez
Classroom teacher in Joconal
Alba began working wth Lan Vwa in January 2016. She
is the mother of a little boy named William. They live
with their little dog Scotty in Roblesito. She travels to
Joconal with Scotty to work Monday to Friday. We are
lucky to have such an incredible teacher and a natural
leader.
“The experience that I have had working in the Lan
Vwa project has been wonderful, because I have been
able to help these young men and women in their education.
I know these kids want to be someone good in
the future. They want to succeed in life. Thank you for
giving me the opportunity to work in this institution.”
Join us for a Virtual Open House
We are pleased to invite you into our classroom for another special open house
this March. The physical trip may take more than a day, but on March 14th, it’s
just a few clicks away. No need to leave your living room, just register online,
and we’ll send you a link with all the information.
When we first started inviting our partners to visit the classroom, our students
were extremely nervous. Most of them are shy when they meet new people,
so you can imagine how they felt about talking to a bunch of gringos that they
have never met. After the first couple Open Houses, our students began to love
it! Now they look forward to sharing and practicing their English with new partners
and friends. To register, visit our Facebook page and click on events. Our
students hope to see you there.
Pray
for us
Prayer requests
from students,
teachers & staff.
Students: That this project keeps on growing and that in the future there will be
a school where everyone from the area can come to study. That God will help
us to be obedient and responsible.
Teachers: That God will give us patience, wisdom, and that we could understand
the students better.
Staff: That God will provide for all the necessities of the school in Joconal. Also,
please pray that He will lead us as we explore the next location for a school in
Guatemala. Pray that He will begin preparing leaders in the next village.
Thank you for supporting us in prayer!
