WHAT AWANA LOOKS LIKE<br />

While Awana ministries are adaptable and flexible<br />

to fit the size of your church’s volunteer force,<br />

building and budget, most Awana ministries have<br />

some things in common.<br />

The program usually runs for one-and-a-half<br />

to two hours and involves a rotation through<br />

three segments:<br />

LARGE GROUP TIME SMALL GROUP TIME GAME TIME<br />

During Large Group Time, children<br />

and students gather to sing worship<br />

songs, receive the awards they’ve<br />

earned and, most importantly,<br />

learn relevant and applicable<br />

truths from Scripture. This segment<br />

of the Awana program offers an<br />

opportunity to easily integrate<br />

Awana with the lesson themes<br />

taught in Sunday school each week.<br />

Small Group Time allows kids to<br />

break into age-specific groups<br />

where they dive into biblical<br />

truth with their leaders, discuss<br />

the meaning and application<br />

of Scripture, and share verses<br />

they’ve memorized. Small Group<br />

Time establishes a foundation for<br />

studying the Bible and growing in<br />

community with other Christians<br />

that will last a lifetime.<br />

It’s fun. It’s high-energy. It’s Game<br />

Time! In fact, one of the things kids<br />

will most remember about their<br />

Awana days is the fun they had<br />

playing games and engaging with<br />

different activities. At Awana, we<br />

realize not every church has a gym<br />

or an Olympic-sized activity center.<br />

The Awana staff will work with<br />

your leaders to create games and<br />

activities to fit your church’s vision —<br />

and your building.<br />
