WHAT AWANA LOOKS LIKE While Awana ministries are adaptable and flexible to fit the size of your church’s volunteer force, building and budget, most Awana ministries have some things in common. The program usually runs for one-and-a-half to two hours and involves a rotation through three segments: LARGE GROUP TIME SMALL GROUP TIME GAME TIME During Large Group Time, children and students gather to sing worship songs, receive the awards they’ve earned and, most importantly, learn relevant and applicable truths from Scripture. This segment of the Awana program offers an opportunity to easily integrate Awana with the lesson themes taught in Sunday school each week. Small Group Time allows kids to break into age-specific groups where they dive into biblical truth with their leaders, discuss the meaning and application of Scripture, and share verses they’ve memorized. Small Group Time establishes a foundation for studying the Bible and growing in community with other Christians that will last a lifetime. It’s fun. It’s high-energy. It’s Game Time! In fact, one of the things kids will most remember about their Awana days is the fun they had playing games and engaging with different activities. At Awana, we realize not every church has a gym or an Olympic-sized activity center. The Awana staff will work with your leaders to create games and activities to fit your church’s vision — and your building. 4
AGES 2 AND 3 Because it’s never too early to teach kids about God Toddlers in Awana Puggles ® discover basic truths about God, and parents get equipped to reinforce the lessons at home throughout the week. Puggles enhances your childcare program and is a great way to include your youngest attendees in a club environment while older kids attend other Awana ministries.
