INCOME TAX
The tories keep on repeating their mantra about being the party of low
taxation. Today on Radio 4 they are again repeating that mantra (albeit
through not a leader, not a minister, not even an MP - today their
spokesman was a former MP who is standing again as a candidate).
The tories won't tell us how much tax they need to raise, they won't tell us
how they will raise it.
They have said no increase in VAT. The only other promise they've made
at all on income tax was a statement by a minister yesterday to
businessmen that they won't increase the top rate of tax. So the tories will
ensure that the rate won't rise just for those earning over £150,000 p.a.
For the rest of us they make no promises.
Labour on the other hand have a manifesto that very clearly sets out their
taxation plans. Only those earning above £80,000 would pay more income
tax. Just the top 5% will pay more tax and it will benefit everyone - 100% -
including those top earners.
In spite of the above the media are still pushing the myth of the tories
being the party of low taxation. The truth is that the tories are the party of
low taxation only for the wealthiest and the party of least provision of
public services for everybody.
The tory taxation plans are secret either because they've not decided on
them yet or because they daren't tell you what they are before the
election. They are asking for your blind faith in this election.
VOTE LABOUR BECAUSE THEY ARE THE PARTY THAT
WILL TAX THE WEALTHIEST 5% FOR THE BENEFIT OF
ALL OF US.
