in included over thirty <strong>Sahabah</strong> ~, all narrating Ahadeeth from Rasulullaah<br />

~. Also sitting in <strong>the</strong> ga<strong>the</strong>ring was a youthful man who was brown in<br />

complexion, who spoke extremely well and who was exceptionally good looking.<br />

Although he was <strong>the</strong> youngest <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> group, <strong>the</strong>y referred to him<br />

whenever <strong>the</strong>y doubted anyone's narration. He would <strong>the</strong>n (correctly) narrate <strong>the</strong><br />

Hadith (<strong>the</strong>y doubted) to <strong>the</strong>m. Unless <strong>the</strong>y asked him,he did not narrate<br />

anything else to <strong>the</strong>m. 'Who are you, 0 servant <strong>of</strong> Allaah?' I asked him. 'I am<br />

Mu'aadh bin Jabal,' carn'e <strong>the</strong> reply." (1)<br />

Suppressing One's Anger<br />

Hadhrat Abu Barzah ®)J.,~ narrates, "When a man spoke harshly to Hadhrat Abu<br />

Bakr ®~, I said, 'should I not execute him?' Hadhrat Abu Bakr ~ rebuked<br />

me saying, 'such punishment is not warranted for anyone (speaking harshly to<br />

anyone) after Rasulullaah ~.",(2)<br />

Hadhrat Umar ®)J.,~ once said, "No person cannot sip any milk or honey that<br />

is better than a sip <strong>of</strong> his anger." (3)<br />

Possessiveness<br />

<strong>The</strong> Possessiveness <strong>of</strong> Hadhrat Ubay bin ka'b ~<br />

Hadhrat Ubay bin Ka'b ®~ narrates that a man once reported to Rasulullaah<br />

~ that a certain person frequently went to see his fa<strong>the</strong>r's wife (with<br />

apparently sinister intentions). Hadhrat ubay bin Ka'b ~j1~ exclaimed, "Had it<br />

been me, I would have killed him." Rasulullaah _ laughed as he said, "How<br />

possessive are you, 0 Ubayl However, I am more possessive than you and Allaah<br />

is more possessive than I." (4)<br />

<strong>The</strong> possessiveness <strong>of</strong> Hadhrat Sa'd bin<br />

Hadhrat Mughierah narrates that Hadhrat Sa'd bin Ubaadah ®)J.,~ once said, "If<br />

I found any man with my wife, I would strike him with <strong>the</strong> sharp edge <strong>of</strong> my<br />

sword." When this was reported to Rasulullaah _ he said, "Are you surprised<br />

with Sa'd's possessiveness? By Allaah! I am more possessive than him and Allaah<br />

is more possessive than 1. It is because <strong>of</strong> Allaah's possessiveness that He has<br />

forbidden all types <strong>of</strong> indecency, be it apparent or hidden. <strong>The</strong>re is also none who<br />

loves to be absolved <strong>of</strong> blame more than Allaah and it is because <strong>of</strong> this that He<br />

has sent warners and givers <strong>of</strong> glad tidings (<strong>the</strong> Ambiyaa so that people cannot<br />

say that <strong>the</strong>y did not know) <strong>The</strong>re is also none who loves praise more than<br />

Allaah and it is because <strong>of</strong> this that he creattd Jannah." (5)<br />
