BAHS Alumni Association<br />

<strong>2017</strong> Sixth Grade All-Around Awards<br />

In an effort to recognize talented <strong>and</strong> high-achieving elementary<br />

students, the BAHS Alumni Association added two new annual awards in<br />

2013. <strong>The</strong> awards are presented at the end of each school year at the<br />

Sixth Grade Moving Up Ceremony.<br />

<strong>The</strong> All-Around Sixth Grade Awards are chosen by the DeFranco faculty<br />

<strong>and</strong> given to one boy <strong>and</strong> one girl at DeFranco Elementary School who<br />

have averaged 90 or better in all of their core subjects. <strong>The</strong>se students<br />

are chosen because they excel in academics, leadership, citizenship,<br />

<strong>and</strong> participation in school <strong>and</strong> community activities.<br />

This year's awards were presented to Rebecca Barila, daughter of<br />

Rosario <strong>and</strong> Patricia Barila <strong>and</strong> Jake Constantine, son of Todd <strong>and</strong><br />

Courtney Constantine<br />

<strong>The</strong>ir activities are listed below:<br />

Rebecca Barila:<br />

In School Activities: Chess Club, Choir, Select Choir.<br />

Out of School Activities: Softball, Basketball,<br />

Piano Playing.<br />

Summer Plans:<br />

• CHOICES, a 5-day program for middle school<br />

girls at Lehigh Univerity to participate in a variety<br />

of engineering <strong>and</strong> science experiments designed<br />

to foster an interest in the future pursuit of science,<br />

technology, engineering <strong>and</strong> math (STEM).<br />

• SISTERS, a Summer Institute in Science, Technology, Engineering <strong>and</strong><br />

Research program for middle school girls held at<br />

Goddard Space Center in Maryl<strong>and</strong>.<br />

• Start training to join the middle school track <strong>and</strong><br />

field team.<br />

In School Activities: Student Lighthouse, Ski Club,<br />

Box Tops Organization<br />

Outside of School: Basketball, Bike Riding,<br />

Motocross, Skiing, Summer Recreation.<br />

DeFranco Elementary Moving Up Ceremony<br />

On <strong>June</strong> 8th, DeFranco Elementary held a "Moving Up" Ceremony for<br />

6th-grade students who will be moving up to the Bangor Middle School<br />

at the M.Craig Paine Performing Arts <strong>The</strong>ater at Bangor High School.<br />

Nazareth Bath Regional Chamber of Commerce<br />

to host the Annual July 4th<br />

Kazoo Parade <strong>and</strong> Patriotic Program<br />

<strong>The</strong> Nazareth-Bath Regional Chamber of Commerce is proud to<br />

host the annual kazoo parade <strong>and</strong> patriotic program that has become<br />

a Nazareth tradition. <strong>The</strong> event will take place on Tuesday, July 4,<br />

2016. Those wishing to participate in the parade will commence at<br />

the Nazareth High School at 9:30 AM. Walkers will be separated into<br />

divisions, all assigned different patriotic songs to play on the kazoos,<br />

which have been donated by Lafayette Ambassador Bank. <strong>The</strong> parade<br />

route will be as follows: from the high school turn up South Liberty<br />

Street <strong>and</strong> make a right onto Belvidere Street. Follow until Main Street<br />

<strong>and</strong> make a right up to the circle, go halfway around <strong>and</strong> turn onto West<br />

Center Street <strong>and</strong> end at council chambers.<br />

Once at council chambers we will have a greeting from local elected<br />

officials. <strong>The</strong> gr<strong>and</strong> marshal of the parade this year will be Nazareth’s<br />

own Harry Adams, a World War II Veteran, from the US Naval Air Core.<br />

Mr. Adams will be driven in a car sponsored by Wind Gap Chevy Buick.<br />

Kids can catch c<strong>and</strong>y donated by Sam’s Club of Easton!<br />

In addition, we will feature plenty patriotic entertainment by Faith<br />
