common? Birth.
The birth of a Nation loomed for our
Founding Fathers. Hopeful, yet scared
—and rightfully so, only a crazy dared
trifle with the British Empire's might—
but nonetheless, agog. Kinda like what
you’d expect when you’re expecting.
For our clients, these abortion-minded
women, certainly they are not “eagerly
expectant” like our Founding Goliaths,
but still a birth pends.
Yep, birth for both camps. One group
against insurmountable odds yet so
committed was willing to risk their own
lives for their respective impending
birth. Our other group not so much.
Of course, next week we celebrate the
outcome for our Founding Goliaths. But
the pièce de résistance: the magnitude
and scope of their prize is immortalized
for posterity as Jefferson re-pens Locke
—“unalienable Rights… LIFE.” So
primitive so foundational so focal as to
render any and all other notions
secondary. Risking theirs to preserve
for us the Right to LIFE. Our Founding
Goliaths got it. Again, our other group
not so much. Well, for us here at Mother
and Unborn Baby Care it’s still about
LIFE—everyday.
And, when a young Mom gets it and
chooses LIFE and turns toward
expectancy, it’s no less momentous an
occasion as the birth of our Nation.

This young lady came into our center for
an ultrasound appointment. She had
called that morning because she was
considering having an abortion and
wasn't sure what to do. She didn't have
any support from the father and was
fearful of life as a single mother. She
cried during the counseling and kept
saying that she just couldn't have a
baby. Although she was a Christian, she
was considering abortion because she
couldn't look past the obstacles facing
her. After seeing her happy, healthy 12
week old baby waving at her from the
ultrasound screen, she burst into tears.
She said, "That's my baby! I can't
believe I thought I wanted an abortion.
Nothing else matters now that I have
seen this." Her due date is the day after
Christmas, and she is so thankful for the
present that God is giving her this year!
Judicial Bypass

When a teenager called us last fall to
tell us that she had an abortion
scheduled at Planned Parenthood the
following day, we knew that we had to
get her in for an ultrasound—FAST. She
was determined to have an abortion for
fear of telling her parents that she was
pregnant. A judge granted her judicial
bypass in order to have the abortion as
a minor without parental consent. When
she came here, she was anxious and
overwhelmed by the prospect of being a
teen mom. She is now a confident and
loving mother of a beautiful baby girl.
Thanks be to God!
Next week when I light that fuse then
gaze Heavenwards, I’ll pause,
remember those brave visionaries who
gave everything in the name of that
LIFE, and whisper thank you. In my
next breath under a shower of
celebratory pyrotechnic choreography I
shall issue Hallelujah to His Greatness
as I assemble for Moms who choose
LIFE.

Late May our very own, pro-LIFE
superhero, Director of Client Services,
Christina LoPiccolo, now Marchetti, and
fiancée Michael celebrated their nuptial
mass at St. Mary Catholic Church in
Royal Oak. Of that day, to say beauty
abounds, would be an understatement.
