Dear Supporters Volunteers and
Staff,
At Mother And Unborn Baby Care,
we “love babies to life.” God
sends us a steady stream of
Mothers who are troubled. To
respond to their needs, He has
brought together a special staff to
serve them and has given them
grace to say just the right words,
while maintaining a warm and
reassuring demeanor. Genuine,
heartfelt empathy fills these
Mothers with hope.
May God send us more Mothers to
console and advise! Think of it.
When they search for a way to end
their baby's life, these Mothers are
just a click away from visiting our
website which cries out and draws
them to us.
May God send us increased funds
to create a greater presence on
the internet! Donations from our
generous base of supporters are
truly blessings; we pray for
additional groups of potential
donors as well. No doubt God will
supply us with new ways and
means as we go forward.
As we move into the second half
of this very special year of 2017,
the 100th year since the
appearance of our Lady of Fatima,
let us all pray for her help and
guidance. There are numerous
opportunities to honor her through
devotions available in the Detroit
area in the coming months. Take
advantage of them. At Mother
and Unborn Baby Care, we are
setting aside Saturday morning,
July 29th at 9:30, to honor her and
ask for her help. We hope you
can join us.
We will be praying to Our Lady for
all expectant Mothers, thanking
God for the blessing that Mother
And Unborn Baby Care is to the
Detroit area. Pray for the grace to
show greater gratitude to God.
Our Lady of Fatima, we entrust
ourselves totally to you! Totus
tuus! Make us fit instruments in
your immaculate and merciful
hands for bringing the greatest
glory to God. Never let us lose
trust in your Son’s fountain of love
and mercy.

Independence Day

Who doesn’t love the 4th: family,
summer, outdoors, picnics,
perhaps the lake. St. Fabian ends
mass with “O beautiful for
spacious skies… America! God
shed His Grace on Thee.”
Tearjerker. And, of course,
fireworks—the thunder and display
bring out the kid in me. Just ask
my kids.
Fond of this holiday, let me reflect
on That Day. In riddle-fashion,
what do patriots—our Founding
Fathers—and our clients have in

common? Birth.
The birth of a Nation loomed for our
Founding Fathers. Hopeful, yet scared
—and rightfully so, only a crazy dared
trifle with the British Empire's might—
but nonetheless, agog. Kinda like what
you’d expect when you’re expecting.
For our clients, these abortion-minded
women, certainly they are not “eagerly
expectant” like our Founding Goliaths,
but still a birth pends.
Yep, birth for both camps. One group
against insurmountable odds yet so
committed was willing to risk their own
lives for their respective impending
birth. Our other group not so much.
Of course, next week we celebrate the
outcome for our Founding Goliaths. But
the pièce de résistance: the magnitude
and scope of their prize is immortalized
for posterity as Jefferson re-pens Locke
—“unalienable Rights… LIFE.” So
primitive so foundational so focal as to
render any and all other notions
secondary. Risking theirs to preserve
for us the Right to LIFE. Our Founding
Goliaths got it. Again, our other group
not so much. Well, for us here at Mother
and Unborn Baby Care it’s still about
LIFE—everyday.
And, when a young Mom gets it and
chooses LIFE and turns toward
expectancy, it’s no less momentous an
occasion as the birth of our Nation.
Merry Christmas

This young lady came into our center for
an ultrasound appointment. She had
called that morning because she was
considering having an abortion and
wasn't sure what to do. She didn't have
any support from the father and was
fearful of life as a single mother. She
cried during the counseling and kept
saying that she just couldn't have a
baby. Although she was a Christian, she
was considering abortion because she
couldn't look past the obstacles facing
her. After seeing her happy, healthy 12
week old baby waving at her from the
ultrasound screen, she burst into tears.
She said, "That's my baby! I can't
believe I thought I wanted an abortion.
Nothing else matters now that I have
seen this." Her due date is the day after
Christmas, and she is so thankful for the
present that God is giving her this year!
Judicial Bypass

When a teenager called us last fall to
tell us that she had an abortion
scheduled at Planned Parenthood the
following day, we knew that we had to
get her in for an ultrasound—FAST. She
was determined to have an abortion for
fear of telling her parents that she was
pregnant. A judge granted her judicial
bypass in order to have the abortion as
a minor without parental consent. When
she came here, she was anxious and
overwhelmed by the prospect of being a
teen mom. She is now a confident and
loving mother of a beautiful baby girl.
Thanks be to God!
Next week when I light that fuse then
gaze Heavenwards, I’ll pause,
remember those brave visionaries who
gave everything in the name of that
LIFE, and whisper thank you. In my
next breath under a shower of
celebratory pyrotechnic choreography I
shall issue Hallelujah to His Greatness
as I assemble for Moms who choose
LIFE.

Late May our very own, pro-LIFE
superhero, Director of Client Services,
Christina LoPiccolo, now Marchetti, and
fiancée Michael celebrated their nuptial
mass at St. Mary Catholic Church in
Royal Oak. Of that day, to say beauty
abounds, would be an understatement.

Hoping for change, last weekend I
stuffed an Andrew Jackson into this
tired-looking machine. All I got was a
disappointing pile of quarters.
But that’s not what happens here at
Mother and Unborn Baby Care.
Equipped with Gospel Truth, guidance
from the Holy Spirit, and a smile our
counselors and ultrasound techs gently
meet each young woman client—right
where SHE is—and demonstrate God's
magnificent humanity that’s before her.
Last week we received confirmation of
four saved babies; in baseball terms
that’s a grand-slam!
Someone at the Center concatenated
productive and frustration to coin
“prustration” -- which translates: “rocket
fuel for activists.” Do you know any prolife
activists? Ones who want change?
Our resident Ornithologist sought a photo of a
dove; the best I could do was this pigeon.

Tech Update

At Mother and Unborn Baby Care we
rely on technology. Not because we like
toys but because tech is quite entwined
in the daily lives of our prospective
clients. Nearly all of them carry a
smartphone. A quick check of our
Problem Pregnancy Center website
traffic will show most visitors land there
via smartphone. We simply are trying to
keep pace with what I call a googleand-gone
culture. If we can’t deliver–
timely, accurately, precisely,
compassionately–our prospective client
is off to the next google query, which
very likely could be an abortion mill. So
this month our phone counselors, our
first-responders as we call them,
will benefit from a couple tech
enhancements, including, 1)
smartphone optimized on-line
advertising replete with call-tracking
numbers displayed to the most ardent
abortion-minded women, 2) an auto-text
utility to help us communicate and build
rapport with a young woman after she’s
scheduled an ultrasound and until she
arrives here for her visit. This tool
automatically delivers timing-specific
content, like appointment date and time,
our location, what to wear, and how to
prepare for her counseling and
ultrasound appointment, 3) and the
implementation of a click-to-call widget
on our website to reach out to a
prospective client even before she dials
our crisis line number. Oh yes, we’ve
