association, S-G Owners Association. All residents are welcome to use the amenities at all locations. To sign up for Stone Gate amenities,
residents of Canyon Lakes West and/or Miramesa must go to the Recreation Center at Stone Gate and show them a copy of their driver’s
license to show proof of residency and then they can register there. The two recreation centers are on different computer systems and in order

2017 Camp Format
• “Personal Enrichment” & “Swimming” hour to each day of camp
• Each Camper will receive a gift.
• “Camp counselors” that assist with each of the days activities
We’ll focus on the fundamentals of golf, plus an hour of “personal
enrichment” each day. This will include fun activities, special guest
presentations, educational hands-on science experiments, karate and
more! Then we’ll enjoy lunch and end the day with swimming at the pool!

REMINGTON MUD #165 PAYMENTS
Friendly reminder, for your convenience there is a drop box outside the
Stone Gate Recreation Center for homeowners to pay their Remington
MUD #165 bill without mailing it. Payments are collected every Thursday.

GOLF COURSE & CART PATH SAFETY
Please be aware of the safety hazards involved in trespassing onto
the Sterling Country Club and Houston National cart paths and golf
course. The cart paths on both courses are only for golfers that have
registered through our Pro Shop. Cart paths are a means for players
to complete their round of golf as quickly, conveniently and safely as
possible. As the Stone Gate community continues to grow we feel it is
our responsibility to educate every resident as best we can to keep
pedestrians and their pets safe and away from the cart paths. Golf balls
are often hit at speeds over 150 mph and can have deadly consequences
to a human or pet if hit in the head, throat or chest. Because the paths are
for registered golfers, those playing golf are not aware of the presence of
pedestrians on the course, which can lead to very damaging collisions
with hikers/bikers and their pets. This January I fielded a report of
a pedestrian being struck by a golf ball and other reports of residents
having near miss encounters with golf carts when traveling along the
paths. Hiking, jogging, biking, skateboarding and skating on the
cart paths is strictly prohibited on the basis of safety hazard and
trespassing concerns. Thanks for your cooperation!
CRIME PREVENTION TIPS AND LINKS
School is out so that means there will be more kids out to create mischief.
Please remember to lock your car doors. Most, if not all, of the Burglary of
Motor Vehicles in our area last month came from unlocked cars. Also, if you
see anything suspicious, please call the Constables right away. Even if it turns
out to be nothing, they would rather check it out to keep the neighborhood
safe. Every now and again, something that people may think is nothing, has
actually turned into something. I have attached 3 helpful links below:
The first is for the Vacation Watch. When the residents leave for vacation,
they can fill out the form and as part of their normal duties, the Constables

the resident’s house and they want the Constables to keep an extra eye

Land Tejas gives back to education through Adopt-a-School program
Land Tejas, a residential land development company in Houston,
donated more than $16,000 to CFISD campuses this spring through its
Adopt-a-School outreach initiative. Land Tejas, which has developed
master-planned communities including Miramesa in Cypress and
Stone Gate in Houston, donated funds for elementary schools to
purchase technology, books and additional seating. The company
also gave a scholarship to a CFISD Spotlight Teacher.
Robert Partin, Adopt-a-School coordinator for Land Tejas, visited the
campuses throughout the spring to make the following donations:
• $2,344.30 to Birkes and Lamkin elementary schools for Kindle tablets;
• $2,500 to Rennell Elementary School for flexible seating;
• $2,500 to Woodard Elementary School for makerspace technology;
and
• $2,500 to Postma Elementary School for a literacy library.
Amy Aguilar, third-grade teacher at Pope Elementary School who

do your part to keep your animals safe and contained on your property.
Please Control Your Pets!
It is a deed restriction violation if your pets are not confined to a fenced
backyard or within your home. They must not be allowed to bark all
night or cause a nuisance to your neighbors. They must also be on a
leash at all times when not in a contained environment. It is also the pet
owner’s responsibility to keep ALL areas of the community FREE from pet
debris when walking your pets. Please remember that cats must also be
confined. Animal Control can be reached at 281-999-3191.
If you happen to come across vicious dogs or ANY loose dogs of this
nature, please contact your local Animal Control at 281-999-3191. If you
are familiar with the property address the pets belong to, please feel free

and ample time must be given to the owner to correct the violation prior
to any further pursuit by the Association.

PET REMINDERS
Due to increased reports of dog attacks and dog bites in the community,
the Association would like to remind residents to keep your pets on a lease
at all times. ALL pets including cats must be leased AT ALL TIMES. There are
leash laws in place by for the community as well as the county. We ask that
you help keep the community safe by keeping your pet on the leash while
out walking in the community and to remember to clean up after them.
DOG WALKING ETIQUETTE
Good dog-walking etiquette means picking up the poop after your dog is
finished. This is as simple as taking a plastic grocery bag, turning it inside
out and placing your hand inside and using the bag as a plastic glove,
then turn the bag back out and take the bag with you where you can
dispose of it properly. That’s the courteous thing to do. Don’t get caught
without extra poop bags, particularly if you’re going on a long walk.
(P.S. This is a great way to recycle all those plastic grocery bags!)
BE VIGILANT
Residents, Please be advised that a string of incidents (car break-ins, dingdong
ditch) have started to occur on a consistent basis in our area. The
Association encourages residents to be mindful of their surroundings and
report any suspicious activity immediately to the local authorities by calling

STREET PARKING
We have received numerous complaints from residents about people
parking in the streets. Please be advised that the S-G Owners Association
will begin placing orange violation stickers on vehicles that are in
violation of the parking policy. Per the Parking Policy, vehicles may
only be parked on the street during daylight hours, when the driveway
can hold no additional vehicles. This does include your guests/nanny,
babysitter, home healthcare provider, etc. Commercially marked larger
vehicles like; Comcast, AT&T, Entouch, landscaper, etc., may park in front
of the home they are providing a service call for, if this is the homeowner’s
vehicle, it may not be stored in the community. In addition, no overnight
parking is permitted. Towing will be enforced in the gated sections. We
encourage you to ensure that your vehicles are properly parked and/or
make proper parking arrangements. We thank you for your cooperation
and understanding. The Owners Association understands there may be
extenuating circumstances which arise from time to time, please contact

EZ tag changes can be done via email to/or at any of the onsite offices.
Please email your onsite office via email at the corresponding email
below to make any changes/updates to the EZ tags on file.
You will need to provide year make model color and license plate number

residents are only assigned to the gate in their section. No resident has
full access of the community. If you need to get to the main office, please

trackless trains or bouncers.
No alcohol is permitted.
*Exception: Alcohol permitted with one (1) law enforcement officer.
The deposit for alcohol is $450. Four (4) hour minimum required at
special event rate (Subject to change). Failure to comply will allow the
Association to close the event.
Resident must supply all cleaning supplies and trash bags.
Resident must take home all trash.

RULES OF THE ROAD FOR
S-G OWNER’S ASSOCIATION
This is a reminder…. The operation of motorized vehicles (ATV’s, dirt
bikes, golf carts, etc.) other than mowing equipment on pathways or
trails maintained by the Association or any other Common Area within
the community is not allowed.
According to the Texas department of public safety:
• ATV’s are not allowed on a street and an operator crossing a street must
have a valid driver’s license.
• Golf carts are allowed on roads, but must obey all traffic laws including
speed limits. If operated on a road the golf cart must have a license plate
and the driver must have a valid driver’s license and proof of insurance.
• Mopeds and motor assisted scooters are treated as regular bicycles. All
vehicles used on roads must obey traffic laws including stop signs and
speed limits. For additional information on this subject go to www.txdps.

DID YOU KNOW…. ATV’s and Golf Carts on common areas of the
community require your money to repair these areas when damaged.
TENNIS COURTS
The Association kindly asks that residents refrain from using the tennis
courts for anything other than playing tennis. Playing basketball, football
and/or other activities can cause damage to the tennis courts making it
unavailable for other residents to use and creating costly repairs.

BEWARE OF YOUR SURROUNDINGS
Remember, we do live in a big city. We have all the elements here and
we have people looking to take advantage of people they perceive as
victims. If a crime is going to occur, the offender must have three things
to accomplish the task: desire, ability and opportunity. Personally, there
is not much that you can do about the offender’s desire and ability.
However, you can take steps to control the offender’s opportunity.
• BE AWARE of your surroundings! Giving the appearance of not paying
attention and not being alert is what offenders look for in a victim. Turn
off your ipod/headphones or cell phone to reduce your risk of being a
crime victim.
• You should never walk alone! However, if you must walk alone, have a
plan and choose open well lighted and well traveled areas.
• When walking you should walk facing traffic. Do not read while walking
or standing on the street. Be cautious of drivers that stop to talk to you or
are not paying attention to the road.
• Avoid being on the street alone if you are upset or distracted.
• Always tell someone where you’ll be and what time you are going to
return.
• If you think you are being followed: cross the street, change directions,
keep looking back so the person knows you can’t be surprised. Look for a
crowded area and move quickly.
• TRUST YOUR INSTINCTS: If something “feels wrong”, something
probably is wrong.
• If you find yourself in a situation with an assailant, don’t be afraid to
loudly call attention to what the assailant is doing (“Help!” “Fire!” “Get
your hands off me!” “This stranger is bothering me...”, etc.).

• Report suspicious persons to the police immediately!
• Keep emergency numbers near your phone.
• Do not leave messages on your door or voice mail, etc., indicating you
are away or when you will return.
• Be cautious of telephone surveys and NEVER... give out any personal

• Always LOCK your doors, garage and windows.
• Keep access cards, keys and remotes in a safe place. Do not leave them
lying out in the open. Never leave them on a table or shelf near your door.

DEED RESTRICTION REMINDERS
DOGS: Please remember barking can be a nuisance to your neighbors. Do
your best to be respectful of the noise level on your property. Pets must
be kept on a leash when walking and don’t forget pick up after them.
LOUD NOISE/MUSIC: Domestic neighbor noise, such as DIY work or loud
music, is the most common cause of noise complaint. It is advisable to
take steps to resolve the problem yourself before filing a complaint with
the management company, such as speaking face-to-face or writing a
letter to your neighbor to explain how you are affected. If you have been
unable or not felt comfortable with resolving a problem with domestic
neighbor noise, please call Top Gun at 281-905-2522 or 713-907-2744, so
they may ask your neighbor to lower the noise.
TRASH: As a friendly reminder trash days are on Mondays and Thursdays
for Stone Gate and Wednesdays and Saturdays for Canyon Lakes West.
TREES: Dead trees and/or missing trees are a violation of your deed
restrictions. If tree stakes are not attached to the tree or if the ties are
an inch or two into the tree - they need to be removed. Thank you for
helping to keep our community a beautiful place to live!
FISHING IN THE LAKES: Not permitted at any time. Please refrain from
this activity.
BASKETBALL GOALS IN STREET: While basketball goals are permitted
in your driveway while being used, they are not allowed in the streets.
Please refrain from blocking the ingress/egress of traffic or emergency
vehicles.
TRASH CANS: Please be sure to keep all garbage in a proper receptacle
with a securable lid to prevent pets and/or wind from creating a mess in

LANDSCAPE COMMITTEE
The primary role is to support a social club for landscaping ideas, also
known as the Garden Club. They are responsible for inviting horticulture
guest speakers for community events and sharing a general interest in
landscaping. They also assist with the Holiday Decoration Yard Contest.
COMMUNICATIONS COMMITTEE
To assist the community in creating, implementing and supporting
communication efforts including the newsletter, intranet and section
leaders and block captains. They also assist with the Holiday Decoration
Yard Contest.
TRAFFIC/SAFETY COMMITTEE
Assists with safety and awareness within the community, making
recommendations to the Board for placement of stop signs and speed
humps.
ADOPT A SCHOOL COMMITTEE
Provides recommendations to the Board of Directors for the donation of
AAS funds to the schools within that community for educational school
items, such as computers, library books, etc. These funds also may be
allotted for enhancements within the community such as sidewalks,
playground areas or other improvements that will benefit the students
of the community.

NEARLY 8,000 CLASS OF 2017 GRADUATES EARN DIPLOMAS
The 11 Cypress-Fairbanks ISD graduation ceremonies held at the Berry Center May 24 th -27 th produced a total of 7,951 graduating seniors of the class
of 2017.
More than 64,000 guests attended the commencements at the Berry Center as thousands of others watched the ceremonies through live streaming
on the district Livestream account.
The live streams generated more than 12,000 combined views from 57 different countries as of June 5 th . Combined with more than 13,000 views on
the CFISD YouTube channel, total streams amounted to more than 25,000 viewers. The 2016-2017 school year marked the 10 th year for graduation
ceremonies to be streamed live for the public.

FIRST DIRECTOR OF AQUATICS
Jonathan Mayer, the head swim coach at Cypress Falls High School, was named the
district’s first director of aquatics on June 1 st .
Mayer has served as the Golden Eagles’ swim coach for the past three years and was
named the District 17-6A Boys’ Coach of the Year in 2017. Prior to arriving in CFISD,
he served as the aquatics department head at Life Time Fitness in Sugar Land for
one year.
He also served as the director of aquatics at the YMCA of Greenwich in Greenwich,
Conn. At the YMCA, he oversaw a multi-million-dollar Olympic-sized natatorium and
a staff of 40 employees.
“We are excited to transition Jonathan into his new role,” said Ray Zepeda, CFISD
director of athletics. “The natatorium will be a great asset to our district and local
community. We feel that Jonathan has the experience and personal relationships
with our existing aquatics team that will allow him to help grow and improve our
aquatics program.”

CA DRAMA DEPARTMENT PRESENTS A NIGHT OF MELODRAMA!
The CA Players performed “The Last One Seen at the Scene of the Crime” a melodrama, comedy
and western all rolled into one play. The evening was enjoyed by audience members of all
ages and the cast and crew received a standing ovation. The wild success of the play was due
in no small part to the long hours of practice by the students and the tireless encouragement
and direction of the CA drama instructors Mrs. Nathalie Carr and Mr. Brian Carr. Both Mr. and
Mrs. Carr graduated with a degree in Fine Arts from Southwest Texas State University and Mr.
Carr is a successful actor who can currently be seen in commercials for Academy Sports and
more. Congratulations to the entire Covenant Academy Drama department.
MASTERCHEF LUCA MANFE’
Masterchef Luca Manfe’ provides dinner for Covenant annual fundraiser. Winner of Master
Chef Season 4, cookbook author and founder of “The Lucky Fig” in Houston served dinner
to the guests of Covenant Academy’s Spring Banquet. Chef Manfe’ designed a three course
menu specifically for the event and was on hand to sign cookbooks and meet guests. This
year’s fundraiser raised over $49K with all proceeds directly benefiting students and faculty
by keeping tuition affordable, providing scholarships and the school resources it needs to
ensure excellence in education.

The Pearl Fincher Museum of Fine Arts will host summer camps and
other activities to make this a fun-filled, artful summer for the entire

Summer Camps
Summer camps will be offered in July for ages 8 to 12 and 13 to 18. Camps
will center around themes of “Contemporary Art Through the Ages.” Each
camp meets Monday through Friday from 9 AM to Noon at the Pearl
Fincher Museum of Fine Arts. Cost of the week-long camps is $140 for
members of the museum or $175 for non-members. Family memberships
to the museum are available for just $55. In collaboration with AAUW
and Klein ISD, a special camp will also be held once a week for students

This summer answer the call to be an Agent of Hope. Week one we’ll be
recruiting campers to be Agents and learning what it means to give hope
to others. Then we will enter into a week at the Agent Academy to train,
learn and grow as a team. Finally, in week three, campers will receive their
secret mission as they are sent out into the world to be Agents of Hope!
Weekly Themes:
• Calling All Agents. You are being called by God to bring hope to the
world. This week we learn what it means to answer the call to be one of
God’s Agents of Hope.
• Agent Academy. This week we will train, learn and grow as a team to be
Agents of Hope!
• Agents on a Mission. This week you will receive you secret mission as
you are sent out into the world the be one of God’s Agents of Hope.
Camp Hope is our three-week day camp for children ages 5 years old
through 6 th grade. It is an adult mentored student led ministry. Each day,
children will hear a new Bible story, learn what it means to their life by
creating a craft, eating a snack, playing a game and experiencing the
story through expressive arts and worship. Camp Hope is a day camp

VOCAL PERFORMANCE CAMP JULY 10-14, 2017
The Houston Choral Society (HCS) announces its 2017 Summer Vocal
Performance Camp – Voyages of the Voice Finders. This one week camp is for
students entering grades 3-5 and grades 6-8. The camp runs July 10-14, 2017.
For students entering grades 3-5, the camp runs from 9 AM to noon and for
students entering grades 6-8 the camp runs from 1-4 PM. Students will learn
how music enriches their brain, body and mind through singing classical, folk
and popular music. Finding your voice, learning how to improve breath and
tone quality, musicianship, singing on sight and music games will be taught
one-on-one and in ensembles. Workshops are led by professional, certified
music teachers and singers from The Houston Choral Society.
The HCS Summer Vocal Performance Camp provides an exceptional
education to all of our students with an excellent student/teacher
ratio. Camps are filling up fast so we encourage parents to sign up for
camps now. Camp tuition for 15 hours of instruction is only $175. The
average performing arts camp in Houston costs in excess of $14 per
hour. HCS offers these camps with four degreed instructors for less than
$12 per hour. Each family will receive 2 free tickets for the end of class
performance. Additional tickets can be purchased for only $5 per person.
The camps include two complimentary tickets to the show, a camp
t-shirt, music and other needed materials.
The camps will be held at The Foundry United Methodist Church. It is

Saturday, August 12 th - Galveston Sand Crab 5K and 10K Night
Run benefitting the Galveston Island Humane Society. Start and
finish at East Beach in Apfel Park. Run entirely on sand, the Sand
Crab is a great way to get a little exercise under the stars on a
beautiful Galveston Beach at night and have a few beers and other
refreshments while listening to great music with other runners on a
summer night. All races are chip timed including the Kid’s Mile. The
Kid’s Mile will start at 8 PM. Parents are welcome to run with kids
free of charge. The 5K/10K will start at 8:30 PM. The 5K run is very
walker friendly with a 2 hr cut off. The 10K is walkable but will share
the 2 hr cut off. 10K runners must be at the 3.1-mile turnaround
within 1 hour. The Sand Crab starts on beautiful East Beach and
runs west for 3.1 or 1.55 miles (depending on the event). Then
turns back to the finish. The course is lit with led lights. Runners
are required to run with a flashlight or head lamp. There are 2
watertops with sports drink and water hit 2X each for the 10K and

program is in partnership with Tender Loving K-9s. All ages welcome.
• ESL READING - Wednesdays at 6 PM and Saturdays at 2:30 PM. Open
to individuals whose first language is not English. This free class will help
ESL students learn to improve their reading skills. Open to people at all
reading levels. No registration required.

• TEEN PROGRAMS - Mondays at 4 PM. Want to do something fun and
interesting after school? The library is hosting weekly Teen events. You
can watch an anime, take part in a book or movie critic club and so much

• MIDDLE SCHOOL SPOT – Tuesdays at 4:30 PM. Come join the fun of
Middle School Spot, a rotating program for ages 10-12. Activities include
Gaming, Writing Workshop, Read Anything Book Club and Puzzles.

• Wednesdays, 10:15 & 11 AM - Toddler Story Time for children ages 18

special summer feeding program is sponsored by the Houston Food
