The Richard
& Margaret
Torongo Memorial
Scholarship Fund
The Torongo’s came
to Roscommon in
1969 to “raise their
children up north.”
Richard was a math
and science teacher,
but his passion
was coaching. He
was instrumental
in starting
basketball, track
and field programs
at Roscommon
Elementary School.
Margaret “Marge”
was a legal secretary
but was happiest
when surrounded
by her family and
friends. Marge was
the co-founder of
Roscommon’s Art
in the Park, which
combined two of
her loves: art and
the AuSable River.
The Torongo family
wished to honor
Richard’s passion for
sports and Marge’s
love of the arts with
a scholarship that
inspires 5th-8th grade
students to learn and
grow through athletic
and fine arts summer
camps.

Weede Family Community Recreation Fund
Tom was a passionate coach and educator. He inspired many students
to reach their fullest potential in the classroom and on the field in his
twenty-three years as an educator and coach. Outdoor recreation, especially
fishing and spending time in the woods, were some of Tom’s favorite
pastimes. His family’s wish is to share his love and enthusiasm for
recreational activities by supporting projects and programs that promote
health and fitness with this fund.
