CENTRAL<br />
LOCAL ROAD WORKS MAKE TRAVEL EASIER<br />
Major improvements to Flynn Drive<br />
are among a host of road projects<br />
identified in the budget for suburbs<br />
in the Wanneroo East region.<br />
More than $480,000 has been<br />
allocated for a new single<br />
carriageway on a revised alignment<br />
for Flynn Drive, from Wanneroo<br />
Road to Tranquil Drive, including<br />
street lighting. The new alignment<br />
will allow for a future dual<br />
carriageway.<br />
The City will make a $500,000<br />
contribution to roadworks and<br />
service relocations on Flynn Drive<br />
from Mather Drive to Old Yanchep<br />
Road being undertaken by the<br />
Banksia Grove Joint Venture (BGJV).<br />
Other significant road projects<br />
include:<br />
Pinjar Road, Banksia Grove,<br />
$400,000 to construct a four-lane<br />
dual carriageway from Blackberry<br />
Drive to Joondalup Drive.<br />
Wesco Road, Nowergup,<br />
$380,000 for stage 5 road<br />
reconstruction and realignment of<br />
road bends.<br />
Neaves Road, Mariginiup,<br />
$225,000 for stage 2 construction<br />
of intersection upgrades and<br />
provision of overtaking lanes and<br />
protected right turn.<br />
Old Yanchep Road, Carabooda,<br />
$665,000 to install guide posts to<br />
improve delineation and sealing of<br />
shoulders and addition of edgelines.<br />
Almost $1 million has been allocated to improving Flynn Drive.<br />
Banksia Grove Open Space<br />
Further development of sporting<br />
and recreational facilities at<br />
Banksia Grove District Open<br />
Space is a top priority in this<br />
year’s budget with more than<br />
$2.8 million set aside for the<br />
construction of change rooms<br />
and the installation of floodlighting<br />
at the Grandis Park ovals.<br />
The proposal is for multiple change<br />
rooms, umpires room, toilets in<br />
addition to a multipurpose hall with<br />
kitchen facilities.<br />
Also at Grandis Park, $600,000<br />
has been earmarked for the<br />
construction of a first-class skate<br />
park facility next to the smaller,<br />
rectangular sports ground.<br />
Other key sporting and<br />
community initiatives:<br />
Carramar Golf Course - $580,000<br />
to replace main and arterial<br />
reticulation; $206,000 upgrade to<br />
tees, paths and greens, as well as<br />
$150,000 for connection to the<br />
mainline sewer.<br />
Edgar Griffiths Park, Wanneroo,<br />
$400,000 detailed design<br />
and stage 1 construction of<br />
refurbishments and additions to<br />
sports amenities.<br />
Lake Joondalup Park - $362,000<br />
detailed design and construction<br />
of refurbishments and additions<br />
to sports amenities building.<br />
Wanneroo Skatepark, $120,000<br />
floodlighting design and installation.<br />
Pinjar Park, Neerabup,<br />
remediation works costing<br />
$600,000, conservation<br />
protection fencing and $110,000<br />
to upgrade limestone pathways.<br />
Wanneroo Sports and Social<br />
Club (WSSC), $134,000 for<br />
design and construction of toilet<br />
and storage shed.<br />
Margaret Cockman Pavilion<br />
at Wanneroo Showgrounds,<br />
$75,000 to install wall and ceiling<br />
insulation to reduce noise and<br />
heat.<br />
Redheart Park, Carramar,<br />
$85,000 to install new<br />
playground equipment.<br />
