Miss CMSF PAGEAnt on <strong>July</strong> 15 th<br />

The <strong>2014</strong> Miss California Mid-State Fair will be crowned on Tuesday, <strong>July</strong> 15. The pageant takes<br />

place at the Frontier Stage starting at 6:30 p.m., admission is free! The contestants include:<br />

Summer Botts is 17 years old<br />

and a Senior at Paso Robles<br />

High School. She is involved in<br />

PRHS International Club, Leadership,<br />

4-H and Paso Robles Girls<br />

Softball League, the Jr. Giants. Her platform<br />

is titled “Youth Sports.” Summer plans to<br />

have an informational booth on organized<br />

sports offered. And “hands on” with sports<br />

equipment.<br />

Denise Carigo is 20 years old<br />

and attends Cuesta College. She is<br />

involved with the SLO Co. 4-H, Girl<br />

Scouts, Atascadero Youth Football<br />

League, Atascadero FFA Alumni,<br />

and a member of the American<br />

Breeders Assn. Her platform is titled “Wellness<br />

Kitchen Expansion.” Denise wants to bring<br />

awareness to the community of the Wellness<br />

Kitchen and what they can do to help patients<br />

and their families facing an acute illness.<br />

Devin Corea is 17 years old and<br />

a graduate of Paso Robles High<br />

School. She have been involved<br />

with PRHS cross country team,<br />

track and field, water polo and<br />

soccer, the high school Journalism class,<br />

leadership, international Club, and Crimson<br />

Crew. Her platform title is “4-H Healthy<br />

Living.” Devin will have an informational<br />

booth to bring awareness to the program<br />

provided through 4-H to teach youth about<br />

healthy lifestyle.<br />

Dianna Dawson is 18 years old<br />

and attends Cuesta College. She<br />

is involved with the Templeton<br />

FFA, National Hillclimb Association,<br />

Junior Fair board, Templeton<br />

High School Varsity cheerleading, and<br />

schools cite council. Her platform is titled<br />

“MOTO – vation.”<br />

Sarah Groves is 19 years old and<br />

attends Cuesta College. She is<br />

involved with the ANAD (National<br />

Association of Anorexia Nervosa<br />

and Associated Disorders). Some<br />

of the awards Sarah has received are Best<br />

of Show and several first place for computer<br />

drafting. Her platform title is “It’s Not What<br />

You Wear.” Sarah will have an informational<br />

booth on how to protect and prevent<br />

sexual assaults.<br />

Laura Henderson is 18 years old<br />

and a graduate of Paso Robles<br />

High School. Her achievements<br />

are PRHS cheerleading stunt<br />

captain and has been on the<br />

honor roll. Her platform titled “Dance:<br />

A movement toward a better health.” Laura<br />

plans to implement a fitness class along<br />

with an informational booth on fitness<br />

and health.<br />

Taylor Mae Lindquist is 18 years<br />

old and attends Cal Poly San<br />

Luis Obispo. She is involved with<br />

American Dairy Goats Assn., San<br />

Luis Obispo County farm Bureau,<br />

California Mid State Fair Junior Fair Board,<br />

and Templeton FFA. Her platform titled “FFA?<br />

Get Agucated!” Taylor plans to educate the<br />

community on what FFA is all about. With<br />

help from FFA advisors she would like to<br />

showcase FFA at local farmers markets along<br />

with an educational booth at the Fair.<br />

Amanda Oliver is 18 years old<br />

and a graduate of Paso Robles<br />

High School. She is involved in year<br />

round club swimming, has been<br />

on the varsity swim team, active<br />

in the band and was senior drum major. Her<br />

platform is “Adoption of Animals with Woods<br />

Humane Society.”Amanda wants to inform<br />

people about pet adoption, micro chipping,<br />

and spay and neutering their animals.<br />

Lauren Rodrigues is 20 years old<br />

and attends California State University,<br />

Fresno. She is involved with<br />

Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority, Cal<br />

State Fresno women’s club water<br />

polo. Her platform is titled “CASA - Court Appointed<br />

Special Advocate.”Lauren plans to<br />

have a booth where adults can receive information<br />

about the organization.<br />

Rebecca Sligh is18 years old and a<br />

graduate of Templeton High School.<br />

She is involved with Templeton’s<br />

Women in Business, Templeton<br />

FFA, and Main Street Dance Co. Her<br />

platform is titled “Depression Isn’t The Way.”<br />

Rebecca plans to have an informational booth<br />

and to partner with Transitions Mental Health<br />

to have information and resources for teens and<br />

young adults who struggle with depression.<br />

Shasta Wright is 18 years old and<br />

a Senior at Paso Robles High School.<br />

Her achievements are Honor Roll,<br />

Principal’s Honor Roll and her team<br />

placed second in parade. Her platform<br />

is titled Music Together. Shasta plans to inform<br />

people about “Music Education” and how<br />

it helps with children’s abilities in learning other<br />

subjects. She will have a booth where children<br />

and adults can play different instruments.<br />

Zoe Zepp is 18 years old and will be<br />

a freshman at Cal State University at<br />

Monterey Bay. She has been involved<br />

with Girl Scouts, NCA Swim<br />

team, USA water polo, 4-H and<br />

PRHS International Club. Zoe wants to get the<br />

community involved with the “Cayucos Pier<br />

Project.” She is planning on a booth during<br />

the fair to inform citizens about the plight<br />

of the Cayucos Pier and help support the<br />

restoration of this historic treasure.<br />

Central Coast Wine Competition - Estrella Hall (aka<br />

Commercial Building #2) The 12th Annual Central Coast<br />

Wine Competition returns to answer the daring question,<br />

“who’s got the best wine on the central coast?” The competition<br />

features over 600 types of wines from more than 150<br />

wineries, all in competition for the prestigious “Best Of” title.<br />
