Ever wonder why it is extremely hard
to work with some individuals and a
lot easier with others? You are not
alone; thousands of people ask
themselves these questions.
Sometimes we toss the feeling aside
by simply agreeing that you just
can’t get along with or work well
with everyone and other times we
struggle to let go of the problem of
not getting along with certain
individuals.
In a world of people, it boils down to
two types of groups of people:
Extroverts and Introverts. It is
important to understand where you
fall on the scale of introvert and
extrovert in order to understand
how you do and react to things and
how they do and react to things.
So which one are you more prone to
be like? There is no such thing as a
100% introvert or extrovert since a
person would likely go crazy if they
were 100% of one.
INTROVERT PERSONALITY TRAITS:
• You find small talk incredibly
cumbersome
• You often feel alone in a crowd
• Networking makes you feel like a
phony
• You have been called not too
intense
• Downtime does not feel
unproductive to you
• Giving a talk in front of 500
people is less stressful than
having to talk to them afterwards
• You would rather be an expert at
one thing than try to master
several things
• You have a constantly running
inner monologue
• You do not feel high from your
surroundings
• You look at the big picture
• You are a writer
• You have been told to come out
of your shell
• You alternate between phases of
work and solitude, and social
activity
• You notice details others didn’t
• You avoid anything that includes
audience participation
EXTROVERT PERSONALITY
TRAITS:
• You are a people person – the
more around you the better
• You enjoy having an audience
• You enjoy networking
• You enjoy sharing your thoughts
• Downtime is considered
unproductive
• You look to others and outside
sources for ideas and inspiration
• You have a wide circle of friends
• You feel isolated when to much
time is spent alone
• You tend to act before thinking
• You like to communicate by
talking
• You LOVE to talk
• You solve problems by discussing
them
• You are described as friendly and
approachable
• You are very open and people
find it easy to get to know you
Now that you have a basic idea of
which groups you fall into here are

INTROVERT:
• RESPECT their need for privacy
• NEVER embarrass them in public
• Let them OBSERVE first in new
situations
• Give them time to THINK do not
seek instant answers
• DON’T interrupt them
• Give them a 15 minute WARNING
to finish what they are working on
• REPRIMAND them privately
• Teach them NEW SKILLS

• COMPLIMENT them in the

things out

• UNDERSTAND when they are busy
• Let them DIVE right in
• Offer them OPTIONS
• UNDERSTAND they are different
from you

A workplace is always less stressful
and more enjoyable when you can
look at individuals and their
personalities and realize that having
good relationships in a work place
takes understanding and patience.
No one is exactly like you, everyone
is different and even though a
person may lean towards being
either an extrovert or an introvert
they can also have personality traits
of the exact opposite.
How we work together is up to us,
our attitude is a choice and since we
are not perfect often times we will
get some things or do some things
wrong. Just remember, every day is a
new day with new opportunities just
around the bend.
