Academic Excellence<br />
An ‘Academic Excellence Award’ is presented to students who<br />
have nominated themselves by calculating their average using<br />
their academic transcript. <strong>Awards</strong> are given to those students<br />
who have achieved a grade level average of 80% or higher in<br />
the following 4 subjects:<br />
For grade 8 and 9 students:<br />

For <strong>Awards</strong> Ceremony<br />
1. Have students sit in bleachers and have chairs out for parents (~70 to 80)<br />
2. Welcome special guests trustee Ms Shirley Caputo and Mr. fred Munn, parents,<br />
and the outstanding, diligent students who will be recipients of an<br />
award today<br />
3. How students qualify for recognition—Teachers nominated your name for<br />
your diligence and excellence in 3 categories—citizenship, practical and<br />
performing artistry, and athletics. In the academic category, the first term<br />
mark and the quarter 3 mark were blended in the 4 CORE subjects—math,<br />
science, La and SS. An average of over 80 qualifies for academic excellence.<br />
4. Remind students to have respectful behavior and to stop talking once students<br />
have returned to their seats<br />
5. Explain process—Call each category, come to front, accept your certificate,<br />
remain at the front until all grade recipients have been called and then all<br />
grade recipients will be honoured as one<br />
6. Upon completion of ceremony parents and students are invited to the cafeteria<br />
for refreshments and to mingle made possible by the foods 10/20<br />
classes and Ms. Thomas<br />
7. Thank you to Ms Mayan for running off the programs.
