The State is a movie theater, performing<br />
arts venue, rental facility and a place for<br />
youngsters to come for no-cost educational<br />
programs. We’re many things to many<br />
people, but above all, The State is a social<br />
hub for our community. It’s accessible,<br />
affordable, a place where one and all are<br />
welcome and where friends gather. I<br />
consider that to be our greatest strength.<br />
We serve many throughout the region<br />
and, in turn, you support our privately<br />
funded nonprofit venue. We exist<br />
because of you. Thank you for being a<br />
part of The State Theatre family, and for<br />
helping to assure that The State remains vibrant, relevant, and vital for<br />
generations to come.<br />

The State is both a community treasure,<br />
and a mature venue that requires a great<br />
deal of TLC. Over the last several months,<br />
the board identified areas for improvement<br />
in order to keep the theater safe for<br />
patrons and staff, and upgrades that will<br />
enhance the experience of our guests and<br />
renters. The resulting Capital Campaign<br />
will accomplish many things including the<br />
addition of seat lights to the auditorium for<br />
greater safety and visibility, an analysis of<br />
all structural and electrical systems, the<br />
replacement of the existing theatrical<br />
lighting, PA system and sound board with<br />
<strong>state</strong>-of-the-art equipment, and an overhaul of our website to make it<br />
mobile- and user-friendly. All lofty goals that carry a hefty price tag, but<br />
goals the board deemed necessary. We reached out to the community<br />
and I’m proud to <strong>report</strong> that to date, we have received $200,000 from<br />
local family foundations and donors, with an additional $225,000<br />
pledged. As a privately funded nonprofit organization, we are committed<br />
to spending our donors’ money wisely and with impunity. Thank you to<br />
the generous families and individuals who recognize the importance of<br />
The State to the community, and through their gifts have helped assure<br />
the theater’s success and sustainability going forward.<br />
