Letter From the Editor
Dear Readers,
As I sit down to write this letter, I think
back to our very first issue ten years ago.
We had great excitement and expectations
at the thought of bringing a women’s
magazine to San Diego. We understood the
need for a publication celebrating women,
and we wanted to make the women proud
of this publication that they could call their
own.
The journey has not always been an
easy one, but it has been one that I am so
glad to have experienced. Coming from
New York and starting a magazine in San
Diego brought with it some unexpected revelations. Many that
caused me to rethink my editorial choices from time to time.
Well, ten years have passed, and our editorial board has
decided to open up and lighten up. So, you will find that this issue
touches upon topics you may never have thought you would find in
the old, “San Diego Woman.”
So please, if you have never read an issue of our magazine before,
please sit down kick up your feet and learn about the women
of San Diego Woman the Magazine. For those of you who are regular
readers you will notice we have increased our page count, we
have an entirely new design and a modern new attitude. Women
change with time, so should their magazine!
Thank you for your loyalty, your letters, your stories and your
love! We are devoted to working toward the next ten years growing
bigger and better with every single issue.
Remember, this is your magazine, and we would love to hear
from you. If you want to share your story or the story of a woman
you know, send me an email to editor@sdwomanmagazine.com. I
can’t wait to hear from you!
Thank you for ten years of support.
With Love,
Letters to the Editor
San Diego Woman, once again you
have provided some very important
information through your articles. I have
suffered with the shame of terribly bad
varicose veins, and have been too embarrassed
to do anything about them. Now
that I know how easy the procedure is now
I have the courage to set up an appointment.
My husband and I loved the article
about Sheri and her guy packing up and
moving to Puerto Rico. My husband and I
have dreamed of a retirement like that for
years. It is so hard to leave it all behind, but
one of these days we will. Thanks for the
inspiration!
I really enjoyed the article “When You’re
Italian” It brought me back to my childhood.
Keep sharing those type of stories
with your readers. It is nice to know someone
else had similar experiences.
The article A Four-Letter Word was such
a good one and it hopefully let some of
the readers understand how hard it is to
have hearing problems. I was born with a
congenital hearing issue that has gotten
worse over the years and there is truly no
outward sign to let others know that I can’t
hear what they are saying to me. Some
people are so mean sometimes, because
they think I am ignoring them or being
rude, when the only problem is I didn’t
hear them. Be tolerant, and don’t assume
the worse. Being hearing impaired is a real
disability, and it is time it was recognized
as such.
What a brave young woman you highlighted
in the article, “Her Middle Name
Should be Never Give Up” It kind of makes
me feel bad for all the times I’ve complained
about little inconveniences. Way to
go Alexis!
I love your product reviews. I always
find something in there that I want to
buy. My husband isn’t too thrilled with it
though, but he will get over it!
