CITY BUDGET IS ADDRESSING COMMUNITY PRIORITIES
The City of Wanneroo’s budget
expenditure continues to respond
to priorities identified by our
residents.
The latest results of the annual
scorecard survey, asking residents
for feedback on Council services
and facilities, show the budget
strategy is aligned to improvement
opportunities identified by the
community.
Respondents said they would like
Council to prioritise playgrounds,
parks and reserves, streetscapes,
safety and security, traffic
management, footpaths and cycle
ways and sport and recreation
facilities.
Many demographic groups including
youth, young parents and seniors
wanted better sport and recreation
facilities, while parents with
children wanted more activities for
teenagers.
Highlights of this year’s capital
works program include more than
$17 million for new or enhanced
sporting facilities and more than
$9 million on roadworks in addition
to nearly $5 million for community
buildings.
Residents want a greater feeling
of security, especially at night,
and would like to see a greater
security presence, more CCTV and
improved street lighting which is
being addressed with more than $1
million of works.
Similarly the capital works include
an allocation of $2.5 million for
park and playground rehabilitation
throughout Wanneroo and renewing
furniture and equipment such
as children’s play structures,
barbeques, seating and shade.
SURVEY
Delays associated with traffic
congestion were identified as a
frustration for residents, who would
like a better flow, easier freeway
access and more dual carriageways.
They are also eager to see the
freeway extended even further.
Apart from its own road works
projects the City is working with the
state government on further dualling
of Marmion Avenue and extending
the Freeway to Romeo Road.
Construction of footpaths, shared
paths and cycling facilities, as
outlined in the 2015 Cycle Plan
and Pathways Policy, also received
significant funding in the 2017/18
capital works budget.

The City of Wanneroo has a new
Customer Service Commitment
outlining the standards of service

The commitment aligns to the City’s
‘customer first’ approach and is
aimed at making its service simpler,
more accessible, and of higher
quality and performance.
The City continues to implement

customers connect to services
with ease.

ELECTION
LOCAL GOVERNMENT ELECTIONS - SATURDAY 21 OCTOBER
Be a Vocal Local.
Have your say on what is important in
your local community by voting in the
upcoming local government elections.
Election day is Saturday, 21 October,
and all eligible electors will receive a
postal voting package around three
weeks prior to polling day.
The package will include a list
of candidates, ballot papers,
instructions on how to vote and
a declaration. To vote, follow the
instructions included in the package.
The Returning Officer must receive
your postal voting package before
6pm on polling day.
If you do not think that your postal
voting package can be returned by
post in time, you can deliver it by
hand to a polling official.
