of the CS HOSPIZ RENNWEG, 

„buy art at our auction and give #moreRoom“ ... 

... with this motto we are hosting our third art auction, curated 

by Michael Schmidt-Ott and organised by the two Rotary Clubs 

Wien-West and Vienna-International in favour of the CS HOSPIZ 

RENNWEG. 

Therefore I am very happy to invite you to this event on thursday 

05. October 2017, at the Novomatic Forum (Friedrichstraße 7, 

1010 Vienna, Austria). 

In this catalogue you will find an overview of all the artworks, 

photos, paintings, sculptures, sketches and prints that will be 

auctioned. 173 artists from 26 different nations have donated them 

for free. But I don‘t just want to thank them for their generous 

donation but also for their great interest and the deep respect they 

bring towards the employes of the hospice. Each and every very 

personal conversation with the artist showed how important an 

institutuion like the CS HOPIZ RENNWEG is. 

Therefore I am very happy that through their great artworks and 

this benefit-auction it is possible to make aware the importance of 

such an institution. 

Now it is up to you: help us to support the CS HOSPIZ RENN- 

WEG by bidding! With the auction proceeds you can give a very 

valuable and essential contributon so that critically ill people can 

spend the last weeks and days of their life in diginty and security.

The auction will be held by Sotheby’s Vienna in the name and towards the 

CS Hospiz Rennweg Vienna. 

The auctioneer is free, by way of exception, to sepearte lots, to unite lots 

and to withdraw lots from the auction and also is allowed to auction in a 

different order then the one in the catalogue.

The prices in the catalogue are the starting-price and not the estimate. 

Usually the auction starts at this starting-price, regarding the written 

offers. 

Usually during the auction, the offers will be raised by ca. 10% on the last 

sum or the written offer. The award of contract will be given to the hightes 

bidder. 

If there is a disput about a twofer or if the auctioneer misses an offer, the 

auctioneer is allowed to withdraw the last bid and continue the auction. 

There are no extra fees or premiums.

Hospiz braucht 

#mehrRaum 

Das CS Hospiz Rennweg (Beratungsstelle, Mobiles 

Palliativteam, Palliativstation, Hospizteam der Ehrenamtlichen, 

Roter Anker, Begleitung in der Trauer) betreut 

seit mehr als 20 Jahren schwerstkranke Menschen 

mit weit fortgeschrittener, unheilbarer Erkrankung und 

begrenzter Lebenserwartung. Seit der Gründung 1995 

ist die Betreuung stetig gewachsen: Die Zahl der jährlich 

betreuten Hospizgäste hat sich mehr als verdoppelt. 

Nun ist es Zeit auch räumlich zu wachsen. 

2017 findet – unter dem Motto „Hospiz braucht 

#mehrRaum“ – ein großer Umbau statt. Mehr Platz für 

Hospizgäste, ihre Familien und Angehörigen, um die letzten 

Tage oder Wochen würdevoll und in Geborgenheit 

verbringen zu können und sich in Ruhe zu verabschieden. 

Familien- und Einzelzimmer statt Zweibettzimmer, 

ein zweiter Verabschiedungsraum und vieles mehr. Kurz 

gesagt: Mehr Raum zum Leben am Ende des Lebens! 

Dieser Umbau stellt das CS Hospiz Rennweg vor eine 

außergewöhnlich große finanzielle Herausforderung: 1,5 

Mio. Euro Spenden müssen gesammelt werden. 

Familien brauchen #mehrRaum 

„Ich werde mit unseren Kindern bei meiner Frau bleiben – 

so lange es irgendwie geht. Ich will sie nicht alleine lassen 

und unseren Kindern die Möglichkeit geben, sich in Ruhe 

von ihrer Mama zu verabschieden. Ich bin so dankbar, 

dass das CS Hospiz Rennweg das möglich macht“, Peter 

F., hat seine krebskranke Frau Stefanie F. (43) gemeinsam 

mit ihren Kindern Tobias (4) und Marlene (6) im CS Hospiz 

Rennweg bis zuletzt begleitet. Manchmal – wenn Stefanie 

alleine im Zimmer gelegen ist – haben ihr Ehemann und 

die beiden Kinder bei ihr im Zimmer übernachtet. Doch 

das war nicht immer möglich. 

Familien, Abschied nehmen und Trauer brauchen Raum. 

Und diesen Raum wollen wir geben. Der Umbau von 

Zweibett- auf Einzelzimmer soll einen intimen Raum geben, 

in dem sich Familien in Ruhe verabschieden können 

und Zeit für sich haben. Derzeit werden meist zwei Hospizgäste 

in einem Zimmer begleitet. Im „neuen“ CS Hospiz 

Rennweg haben die betreuten Menschen in einem 

Einzelzimmer „ihren“ Raum. 

Wohlfühlen braucht #mehrRaum 

Alle Zimmer des CS Hospiz Rennweg sind mit einer Dusche 

und einem Waschbecken ausgestattet, die allesamt 

saniert werden. Auch das große „Wohlfühl“-Bad wird erneuert 

und um einen deckenläufi gen Lifter erweitert. 

Verabschiedung und Sterben brauchen #mehrRaum 

Ein zusätzlicher Verabschiedungsraum bietet Angehörigen 

mehr Zeit und Raum, um sich in Ruhe von ihren 

Liebsten zu verabschieden. Mehr Intimität und mehr Platz 

für alle Kulturen. 

Seelsorge braucht #mehrRaum 

Trauerbegleitung braucht #mehrRaum 

Mobiles Hospiz braucht #mehrRaum 

Im Zuge der Umbauarbeiten werden Besprechungs-, Arbeits- 

und Therapieräume für die Seelsorgerinnen, die 

Psychotherapeutinnen des Roten Ankers und für das Mobile 

Hospiz geschaffen. Dieser zusätzliche Platz bedeutet 

eine Qualitätssteigerung der Arbeitsräumlichkeiten 

für Mitarbeiterinnen und Mitarbeiter und damit auch eine 

Steigerung der Betreuungsqualität für die betreuten Hospizgäste

The Rotary Club Wien-West was founded in September 1959. 

This early date of foundation is formative for the culture of 

and in our club. Though we keep the rotarian tradition very 

high, at the same time we are an innovativ club. One of the 

leading themes is “Service above self“ and the care of the 

friendship. This takes time, advice and action: therefore we 

invest a lot of our personal spare time in several projects. 

Our weekly meetings with high-class speakers and our trips 

to our partner club, RC München Hofgarten in Munich and 

the anual club-journey are highlights of the year. 

But at the same time working and supporting the ideas of our 

Rotaract Club, Wien-Belvedere, and especially the dialogue 

with them and to work on several social projects together,

Our anually trip with inhabitants of the hospice, working 

togethter each and every december in our own mulled-wine

Rotary Club Vienna-International, consisting of 52 multinational 

members (26 female and 26 male) is the only english 

speaking club in Austria. It´s diversity represents all walks of 

life, social and professional. We are a vibrant and active club 

promoting and fostering friendship amongst members and 

their families. The club is a favourite meeting point for diplomats, 

high profile speakers and leading figures. 

Founded on Rotary´s principles with the core purpose, service 

above self, RCVI is dedicated to serving the local community. 

Especially children. 

The club supports multiple local and international projects 

in the fields of health care, education and food and regularly 

holds numerous fund raising events like operating a monthlong 

Punschstand to provide equo-therapy for handicapped & 

chronically ill children, run a Kart Race to arrange christmas 

gifts for women and children facing domestic violence and celebrate 

Oktoberfest to facilitate school learning aid for those 

in need, Austrians and immigrants. RCVI supports Wiener 

Frauenhäuser, Austrian Red Cross, Das Lernhaus, e.motion 

Therapy Centre and Shelter Box etc. We have successfully 

co-financed projects with Austrian Foreign Ministry in South 

Africa, Austrian Ministry of Interior in Thailand etc. Since it´s 

charter in 2012, RCVI has donated over €250,000.00 to the 

above mentioned projects.
