Welcome to our first Executive Briefing for Kennesaw State University Auxiliary Services and Programs!
I am proud to present an overview of our services and a few highlights of our accomplishments for
fiscal years 2013 and 2014.
Since first joining Kennesaw State in August 2012, I have had the pleasure of working with an extremely
talented and dedicated auxiliary team who are committed to providing the highest quality services to
meet the needs of the entire KSU campus community. As our vision and mission statements outline,
we strive for excellence, and we believe excellence is achieved through continuous improvement.
Over the past several years, Auxiliary Services and Programs have been at the forefront in helping make
Kennesaw State University a world-class institution by becoming a world-class auxiliary enterprise. In
the spring of 2013, Auxiliary Services led a campus-wide conversion to Blackboard Transact to power
key transaction systems critical for Kennesaw State to keep pace with its projected growth, particularly
with the consolidation with Southern Polytechnic State University. Blackboard Transact is integral in
providing seamless administrative operations in multiple auxiliary units including Card Services,
Copy/Print Services, Culinary and Hospitality Services, and the Department of Parking and
Transportation. Additionally, Blackboard interfaces with other critical university operations including
the offices of the Registrar, Bursar, and Financial Aid. The implementation of Blackboard Transact
postures KSU positively to integrate like systems at SPSU to successfully consolidate the two institutions
into one new university.
Though all auxiliary operations have experienced significant upgrades, one critical service that was
underserving its constituents was the university’s healthcare offerings to students. In the fall of 2013,
KSU’s Student Health Services division was moved under the Auxiliary Services and Programs’ umbrella
from the administrative care of a university college. Recognizing the need for immediate and
significant improvements across-the-board, we made the decision to outsource the management of
Student Health Services to the leading health services organization in the metro Atlanta area. WellStar
Medical Group assumed operational responsibilities for KSU Student Health Services in spring 2014,
reporting to Auxiliary Services and Programs. WellStar’s professionalism and commitment to providing
world-class healthcare services to our students complements perfectly our goals of being a world-class
auxiliary operation in a world-class institution.
Please peruse through this Executive Briefing to read further about all the happenings in Auxiliary
Services and Programs. Additionally, another one of our major improvements was the launch of all-new
Auxiliary websites, so be sure to check out our operations more in-depth at auxiliary.kennesaw.edu.
Feel free to contact any of our departments with questions, ideas, or recommendations.
Thank you for your support as we strive to better serve you.
Sincerely,
Randy Shelton
Assistant Vice President
Auxiliary Services and Programs
