John 13:31-32 … To be Glorified in Him
(10/07/2016)
“Now the Son of Man has been glorified, and God has been glorified in Him.
If God has been glorified in Him, God will also glorify the Son in himself at
once.” ~ Jesus (John 13:31-32)
When the reader of this verse focuses on the words “Son of Man” and thinks
of Jesus Christ, he or she will be misled into the darkness of man-tainted,
exclusivist, condemnatory religious dogma. However, if the reader of this verse
realizes that Jesus was not speaking in the 3rd person here – that his love for
humility and his hatred of hypocrisy actually precluded the same (see Matthew
18:3-4) – that “Son of Man” here is a reference to everyone; to every human being
who ever lived and every human being who ever will live (otherwise he would have
been lying when he uttered the statement in Matthew 16:28), then the reader will
automatically re-focus on the words of true importance in this passage – namely,
the words “in Him” & “in himself” – words which refer to all of us; indeed to
every sentient being who has ever lived (see John 14:20).
Think about it ...
Realize it ...
Enliven it!
Amen ... Let it be so.
