Harvest of Hope Fundraiser
12:30-4 p.m. Sunday, Oct.
29. With food, music, games
and inflatable jump houses,
Stone Church, in partnership
with Convoy of Hope, is to
help with hurricane relief efforts.
The afternoon also will
be packing the much-needed
Hygiene Kits for Convoy of
Hope. These will be passed
out to disaster victims in
these areas. The church also
will be asking for donations
of the items needed for these
kits, such as soap, shampoo,
hand towels, toothpaste,
toothbrush, combs and stick
deodorant.

Statue Visit
9 a.m.-4 p.m. Friday, Oct.
13. The National Pilgrim
Virgin Statue of Our Lady
of Fatima is to stop by St.
Michael Church. Eucharistic
adoration is to take place
throughout the day. Rosaries
will be recited every hour.
The blessing of articles is
to take place throughout the
day.
Women’s Retreat
8 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 14.
The women of St. Michael’s
Parish will be hosting their
fall retreat at Our Lady of
the Angels Retreat Center,
13820 Main St. in Lemont.
The theme this year is “Finding
Joy on the Journey,” and
the retreat leader will be Dr.
Mary Amore. The retreat
will begin with a continental
breakfast and gathering from
8-9 a.m. There will be four
sessions, with a break for
lunch, and it concludes with a
Mass at 4:30 p.m. The cost is
$45 and can be paid with registration
at the parish office.
Women’s Club Trip
The Women’s Club of St.
Michael’s is sponsoring a bus
trip from 8:30 a.m.-3 p.m.
Thursday, Oct. 19, to Long
Grove. Participants can enjoy
the quaint shops and restaurants,
and get ideas for their
holiday gifts and treats. Tickets
are available at the parish
office for $30.

500th Anniversary of the
Reformation Event
10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 10.
A special 500th Anniversary
of the Reformation is
to feature renowned composer
and Lutheran musician
Carl Schalk, who will
make a presentation on his
newly published “A Lutheran
Catechism: Understanding
Church Music in
the Lutheran Tradition.”
His presentation is to be
followed by a Communion
service and luncheon. Participants
will receive complimentary
copies of his
booklet. The event is open
to the public and provided

She is survived by her

and Aloysius (Rose) Ksiazek;
and many nieces and
nephews.
Wife of the late Fred M.
Ban. Great-grandmother of
the late Ryan James. She
was preceded in death by

Jensen, 87,
formerly of
Orland Park,
died Sept. 28.
She
born January
24, 1930, in
Cook County,
was
Jensen
the daughter of Fredrick
and Minnetta (Winegardner)
Kasten. She married Raymond
F. Jensen on Sept. 2,
1949, in Chicago. He died
Aug. 13, 2010. She was a
receptionist for Country
Companies and bookkeeper
for Orland State Bank. She
loved to travel and sing,
singing for 40 years in the
church choir.
She is survived by her children,
Susan L. (Ralph) Radecky,
Glen F. Jensen, Aleen
R. (Tom) Hammond and Carl
K. (Brenda) Jensen; nine
grandchildren; and four greatgrandchildren.
She was preceded
in death by her parents,
and sister Dorothy Gerth.
No services are planned at
this time. The family entrusted
Calvert Funeral Home
with cremation rites.
