Centenary Commemorations
Visit Ypres
Bring a historical dimension to your tour with a day trip to Ypres. Visits to
the In Flanders Fields Museum, Tyne Cot Cemetery and the reconstructed
trenches at Passchendaele and Bayernwald will give your group a greater
understanding of the conflicts of the First World War and, with the
opportunity to perform as part of the Last Post Ceremony at the Menin
Gate, your group can be a part of the Centenary commemorations.
Perform at the Menin Gate
The Menin Gate displays the names of over 54,000 British and
Commonwealth soldiers who died in the First World War and have no
known grave. At 8pm every evening, traffic through the gate is stopped
as buglers from the local volunteer fire service play the Last Post.
A memorable moment for many of our groups is the honour of
performing as part of the Last Post Ceremony. This is always an
emotional experience, made even more moving during the four
year period of the First World War Centenary commemoration.
