The wood was selected because wood is a renewable, beauty fulbuilding material, which helps tackle<br />

climate change. It is also durable, versatile and can be cost-effective. The production and processing<br />

of wood uses much less energy than most other building materials, giving wood products a significantly<br />

lower carbon footprint. Wood is a durable material for both homes and commercial buildings.<br />

When properly looked after it can last hundreds of years. Modern wood preservatives enhance<br />

natural durability. Wood itself is a natural insulator due to air pockets within its cellular structure. As<br />

an insulator wood is 15 times better than masonry, 400 times better than steel, and 1,770 times<br />

better than aluminum.<br />

Our final material is the fibre cemen tcladding. Fibre cement is a mineral composite material with<br />

outstanding aesthetic and physical properties. Fibre cement is produced in large sheets that are very<br />

thin yet have outstanding physical properties. Fibre cement has fire classification A2EURO class and<br />

has a life expectancy exceeding 50 years in the most demanding exterior applications. Facades<br />

constructed with fibre cement are thin and lightweight, resulting in minimal depletion of raw materials.<br />

As our house is inserted into an existing concrete structure, we decided to use a material that will<br />

interact and blend with the existing construction. The fibre cement texture is very similar to that one<br />

of concrete. The fibre glass also works as thermal insulator, sound insulator, it is water and fireproof.<br />
