Welcome 

Welcome to Shine! Everyone knows 2017 was a big year for our parish: former Pastor Blaise Cupich 

was elevated as the Cardinal of the Chicago archdiocese; Fr. Steven Stillmunks celebrated his 40th year 

as a priest; and, the Ladies Guild celebrated its 50th anniversary. Hence, the theme: Ruby Red Year of 

the Cardinal! 

Tonight we celebrate our wonderful parish community. As chairs of 

this year’s event, we are grateful to have worked with many amazing 

volunteers. People were incredibly generous sharing their time, talent 

and treasure for the success of this evening. 

Do we hope to raise money for our parish and school? Absolutely. 

But what is more important is that everyone enjoys themselves tonight. 

We hope you reconnect with some old friends and maybe make some 

new friends.

Along the way, we hope you feel inspired. Ten percent of tonight’s proceeds will benefit the Healing 

Kadi Foundation (caring for people in South Sudan) and the Christ Child Society which provides 

layettes for young, pregnant women and their babies.

Benjamin Preston 

Benjamin Preston is an Omaha native who is a lead marketer for a group of startups in 

New York City. Ben graduated from St. Roberts in 2007 and attended Creighton Prep High School. 

He received his Bachelors of Journalism at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. 

While at St. Roberts, Ben witnessed the spirit of the St. Robert’s community as families 

rallied around his mom, Kamie, who battled breast cancer. Ben participated 

in the Youth Ministry Program and worked on key projects like the 

Omaha Nation Outreach Program. Ben flies home twice a year to help lead 

the youth of St. Roberts as they volunteer at Winnebago.

Award 

JACK AND THE LATE REGINA MINTON 

DAN AND JENNI OWENS 

Jack and Regina Minton were married for 58 

wonderful years, and they raised 10 children 

together. They were founding members of St. Robert 

Bellarmine and the founding pastor Fr. Eugene 

Kerwin’s go-to couple. 

While Jack served as the President of Mutual of 

Omaha, he never said no to any pastor who asked 

him to serve on a capital campaign for the parish. 

Jack recently served on the Jubilee Campaign as an 

honorary chair with Fr. Donald Shane. 

Fr. Kerwin asked Regina to organize a Ladies Guild 

for the new parish. This year the Ladies Guild 

celebrates 50 years of service, and a scholarship for 

girls in the parish was created in Regina’s honor. 

It was the Ladies Guild, under the guidance of Fr. 

Kerwin and Regina Minton, that began the parish’s 

Perpetual Adoration; a lasting legacy that continues 

to this very day. Regina also was one of the 

founding members of the Welcome Committee for 

new parishioners. 

Their eight children all attended St. Robert 

Bellarmine School. 

Dan and Jenni Owens started their married life in 

Florida in 1989 where Dan served in the U.S. Coast 

Guard. In 1995, they moved to Omaha, close to St. 

Robert Bellarmine and raised eight children. 

Dan has been involved in the Mens’ Basketball 

League, served on the Athletic Commission, assisted 

with the Annual Golf tournament to benefit the 

youth of the parish, was a basketball coach, Track 

Commissioner, Scout Leader and a member of the 

Knights of Columbus. He also has served on the 

Catholic Charities Board, the governing board 

of Music in Catholic Schools and the Boy Scout 

Executive Board in Omaha. 

Jenni is a fixture at St. Robert’s school. She helps 

students prepare for Math contests, co-founded the 

Elizabeth Ministry for families mourning the loss of 

their infants, oversees the FIAT (Faith Integration 

Action Team) newsletter and organized childcare 

during Parish Missions and Adoration. She has 

served on the Total Education Board, the Welcome 

Committee, Family Ministry’s St. Nick at Night, 

an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion 

(EMHC) and is a member of the Ladies Guild. 

Together, Dan and Jenni are Adoration Captains 

and spend time as Nocturnal Adorers. Their 

children and grandchildren have attended St. Robert 

Bellarmine School.

Birds of a feather flock together! Nationally known artist and parishioner Michelle Moffitt captures 

the spirit of St. Robert’s flock with her uniquely designed and created 40 original mosaic art pieces. 

Each one of the stylized birds entails a 10-part process from original design, cutting glass to final 

seal. Michelle poured over 120 hours of design and labor into these special works of art, and she has 

graciously donated her time, talent and treasure so that 100 percent of the proceeds will be divided and 

go directly to the Five-Day and Religious Education teachers at St. Roberts. 

We thank the Five-Day school and Religious Education teachers 

for contributing ideas, time and service to make the night a success.

Win an Apple Watch! To play the game, a $10 donation is required. When it is time to play, those 

who have contributed will rise and place their hands on their head (heads) or on their bottom (tails). 

Omaha’s own NFL referee, Clete Blakeman will conduct the coin flips. If it lands on heads, then all 

those with their hands on their heads remain standing and continue playing. Those with their hands 

on their bums sit down. Or vice versa if the coin lands on tails. This continues until one person remains 

standing. That person is the winner of an Apple Watch!

Creighton Prep, directing adult spirituality programs for faculty and staff and hosts a 

number of retreats in the region for a variety of audiences. Your package includes frosty cold

The mission is simple, to encourage growth in the Christian population and to preserve the 

presence of Christianity in the Holy Land. This priceless piece consists of old olive wood 

from the Bethlehem Area. Strengthened by the power of the Holy Spirit, their shop has

Funds raised during Raise the Paddle will be used to upgrade the church and school security systems. 

Such items include additionalcameras, door security, etc., as determined by the Parish Building 

Committee. Raise the Paddle auction will take place immediately following the Live Auction. Guests 

will be invited to raise their bid cards at the funding levels of $5,000, $2,500, $1,000, $500, $250, $100 and 

$50. When you hear the amount at which you wish to contribute, simply raise your paddle. When you 

hear your number called, you will know your contribution was recorded.
