A Busy November 50
Well if you read our magazine last
to find out that once again my
weather predictions were wrong.
Looking out of the window this
morning it is grey and wet so unfortunately
I will have to put the
BBQ away for the year and there
will not be an Indian summer as I
said there would be, sorry folks.
Uncle Tom Cobley
DOWN UNCLE TOM’S WAY
As the nights draw in and the weather starts to chill, we are all forced to resume
living back inside our homes. For some reason this always seems to bring up the
issue of space. Having been used to long lazy days on the patio or in the garden,
suddenly being forced to spend time within four small walls can feel a bit cramped.
But don’t despair, as this gives us a great chance to rethink our home storage
systems, whilst streamlining our clutter and our lives. Before investing in any storage
systems though, it’s worth having a good declutter and asking yourself if all the stuff
that needs a home is really worth keeping. If not, why not try selling it on an online
auction site, or failing that donate it to a friend, charity or local organization that
could make use of it.
The easiest way to organize the stuff that’s left is room by room, starting with your
hallway. This area is easy to clog up with coats, shoes and bags, but an organized
entrance with integrated storage solutions in the form of compact cupboards, shoe
caddies and peg rails can help to bring calm to chaos and create a great first
impression when you walk through the door.
As you work through your home, each room will present its own challenges, but a
combination of cupboards, shelving units, baskets, boxes, trunks and furniture with
built-in storage can be adapted and styled to create a home for most things.
The other area you may want to reorganize as part of this process is the garage.
Free standing units and wall brackets will make a visible difference to this part of the
house and you may even end up with space that can be converted into a home
office or teenage den.
So, get organizing and you’ll soon have a home that you’ll want to snuggle down in
to see out those cold winter months.
That’s all from me, have a great month!
Uncle Tom ©

I have just finished my first course of treatments for inch loss, and I am delighted with the
result.
The areas of suborn fat that I have not been able to reduce from diet and exercise alone,
have sufficiently diminished. My clothes now feel looser and I can fit into my favourite
pair of jeans.
I found the treatments with Angela very enjoyable, as she put me at ease and explained all
stages of the procedures.
I would highly recommend these treatments for anyone looking to improve their body
shape.
Michelle Richardson
"I’ve had a series of facial treatments with Angela at Azari Hair and Beauty.
She used the RF machine on my face which improved the fine lines round my mouth,
lifted the contours and left my skin feeling soft and plump.
Using the Bio current machine she lifted my brow and I feel that my face looks brighter
and refreshed.
I am truly delighted with the result."

Help a local child this Christmas. Join our Christmas Dress-up Day on
Friday 1 st December!
Home-Start CHAMS (Crawley, Horsham and Mid-Sussex) are asking local
schools, nurseries, companies and community groups to get involved on
Friday 1st December to join their Christmas Dress-up Day, for donations
to their Snowflake Appeal.
Home-Start CHAMS are a local charity that supports families with young
children, struggling to cope with issues including abuse, neglect, mental
health, isolation and poverty that can all too often impact on children’s
development.
Recent statistics (WSCC IPEH) show that in an average West Sussex
classroom of 30 reception children: *3 children are suspected of being
abused or neglected. *4 children require additional support services. *A
large proportion (around 45%) are starting reception class with levels of
development below the national average.
To advertise please call 01444 412552

Home-Start CHAMS is part of the solution for these children - last year
they supported 379 vulnerable local children. And have recently
enhanced their focus on helping young children become “confident early
learners” in readiness for them starting school. With your help, they can
give more vulnerable local children the best start in life.
But there were more local children across Crawley, Horsham & Mid-Sussex
experiencing hardship or tragedy and in need of the charity’s help who
they had to turn away because of lack of funds. Aneliese Whittaker,
Fundraising and Marketing Coordinator at the charity said “We want to be
able to reach every young child who needs us, so we can help give them
the best possible start in life. We’re asking our local community to get
involved with our appeal. Put on your Christmas jumper, perhaps bake
some cakes too, and get involved with raising much needed funds in the
run up to Christmas.”
The Snowflake Appeal runs 1st November – 31st January. To find out
more about how you can help make sure vulnerable children don’t have to
be turned away in the future, go to the charity’s website at
www.homestartchams.org.uk/snowflake
Why it matters
The five years between birth and school are vital for a child’s develoment.
What goes on inside a family during these years strongly determines the
opportunities and life chances children have. Children who are raised in a
stable, loving, family environment are more likely to have a positive and
healthy future.
But being a parent isn’t easy and sometimes life can get in the way.
Circumstances throw you off course and everything else can take a back
seat. A young child caught up in this can miss out on the love, routine and
stimulation that are so vital for their future.
Home-Start works because our volunteers are parents. They understand
how hard it can be. They work alongside parents, in their own homes, to
help them cope with the stresses and strains of life and make sure they
have the skills, time and strength they need to nurture their children.
The Snowflake Appeal
The ‘Snowflake Appeal’ is and to raise funds to support vulnerable
children in Crawley, Horsham and Mid Sussex and to increase awareness
of the charity’s work. It is part of a national campaign run by their parent
charity, Home-Start UK, and backed by TV presenter, Kirstie Allsopp.
The Snowflake Appeal runs from 1 st November 2016 to January 2017.
The snowflake symbol was chosen for the appeal because every child
Home-Start supports is as unique and fragile as a snowflake
