Dear Readers,
Welcome aboard SpiceJet.
I hope you celebrated a safe Diwali with
your loved ones. At SpiceJet we took
this opportunity to celebrate the festival
of lights with the less fortunate. I feel
proud to share that on the occasion
of Diwali, SpiceJet worked to bring
electricity to the remote village of
Baruahchuck in Majuli district in Assam.
Our initiative Roshan Hoga Desh Hamara
entails the erection of a ‘Solar Microgrid’
which will help light up 70 households,
one anganwadi, one school and
two temple areas besides the streets.
This village is situated on the world’s
largest river island MajuIi which
is recognized by the Guinness
Book of World Records. The district
itself is situated in close proximity of the
mighty Brahmaputra and unfortunately
gets frequently flooded, posing several
unique challenges to its residents.
Electrification of the village is one of
these but we are aiming to complete the
entire project within
75 days.
Further, I am pleased to announce
the commencement of daily direct
flights on the Delhi-Jaisalmer and
Jaipur-Jaisalmer routes effective
October 29, 2017 onwards. Jaipur-
Jaisalmer is not only our fourth
sector under UDAN or the Regional
Connectivity Scheme, but it is the first
time ever that direct air connectivity
has been offered on this route. SpiceJet
is the exclusive airline on the aforesaid
routes and it also resumed flights
between Delhi and Jodhpur the same
day. The day also marked the launch of
SpiceJet’s new Jaipur-Varanasi flight
— a sector that no other airline in the
country operates. With the addition
of Jaisalmer and Jodhpur, SpiceJet is
currently operating to 45 domestic
destinations.
In order to take our commitment of
‘connecting the unconnected’ regions
of India a step further, SpiceJet is
working closely with Setouchi Holdings
to start a new service of small 10 and
14 seater amphibious aircraft. These
versatile aircraft are capable of taking
off and landing from virtually any type
of surface including gravel, grass or
waterbodies. This service will help
SpiceJet connect some of the remotest
regions of India and will further
democratize air travel.
SpiceJet’s expansion and growth
plans are also on a fast track. On
September 29, SpiceJet and Bombardier
Commercial Aircraft confirmed a
purchase agreement for up to 50
Q400 turboprop airliners. This is
the single largest order ever for the
Q400 turboprop aircraft across its
illustrious history. These efforts are
aimed at providing robust and varied
flight options to our Tier 2 and 3 cities
consistently.
September was the 31st monthin-a-row
that SpiceJet flew with load
factors in excess of 90 per cent — a
global aviation record. Significantly, this
was also the fifth consecutive month
when our occupancy was over 94 per
cent. This won’t have been possible
without the unstinted support of each
one of you. We take pride in serving our
guests and will ensure that we continue
to serve you even better in the times
to come. On that note, I wish you all a
