When I tell people my background, they seem to think that’s pretty refreshing because I’ve spent my career helping people.” Carroll admitted he has also run into skeptics on his communal political quest. “I tell them I am new to this, but give me an opportunity to serve our community and see what I can do,” Carroll said. In terms of his political agenda and his goals, Carroll is passionate about many issues but some, OVER $5,000 In Door Prizes Spa Service Giveaways Fillers & Botox Laser Services Product Gift Baskets & So Much More!!! The Northbrook resident would like to find tax relief for the middle class and look at ways to promote more responsible gun ownership by looking specifically at how people are getting guns and what kind of guns are out on the streets. But Carroll has another idea, one that transcends partisan politics and hits home for families not just in Illinois, or even in his district, but across the country. Carroll wants increased menu-transparency from food establishments, a novel concept that is often grossly overlooked. However, Carroll sees this as an opportunity to protect more of our vulnerable citizens and kids. “I have a daughter with severe food allergies and whenever we go to a restaurant, it’s always like playing Russian roulette,” he said. “I don’t know if what she is going to eat will cause her to have an allergic reaction. … I’d like us to do a better job of understanding the issue and increasing transparency from food establishments.” As Carroll begins to navigate his way through the depths of Springfield, a place where his predecessor said she “felt a lot of frustration,” one wonders if he is ready or even slightly worried about the potential for pushback. “I have been fighting my whole life man,” Carroll said. “Nothing has come easy to me. I’ve always had to be the guy that worked harder than others and I don’t take anything I do lightly. The challenges in Springfield that may or may not come up for me won’t come from a lack of effort.”
