Cookies
NEIMAN-MARCUS COOKIES
2 cups butter 4 cups flour
2 cups sugar 2 tsp. soda
2 cups brown sugar 1 tsp. salt
4 eggs 2 tsp. baking powder
2 tsp. vanilla 5 cups blended oatmeal
1 8 oz. Hershey Bar (grated)
24 oz. chocolate chips
3 cups chopped nuts (your choice)
Measure oatmeal, and blend in a blender to a fine powder.Cream
the butter and both sugars. Add eggs and
vanilla, mix together with flour, oatmeal, salt, baking
powder, and soda. Add chocolate chips, Hershey Bar,
and nuts. Roll into balls, and place two inches apart
on a cookie sheet. Bake for 10 minutes at 375 degrees.
Makes 112 cookies. (Recipe may be halved)
PEANUT BUTTER RICE CRISPY TREATS
1 Cup Sugar ( or less)
1 Cup Light Karo Syrup
1/4 tsp salt
1 cup extra crunchy peanut butter
4 cups rice krispies
Combine first 3 ingredients in sauce pan. Heat on low
until sugar is dissolved. (About 6-8 minutes)
Stir occasionally.
When sugar is dissolved, remove pan from heat
and add peanut butter. Stir until well blended.
Add 4 cups rice krispies. Stir together with a wooden
spoon until well mixed. You could add chocolate chips
is you like.
Spoon into a 8x8 lightly buttered pan- pat down flat
and refrigerate.

NEIMAN MARCUS BROWNIES
1 box butter pecan cake mix (Betty Crocker) or Choc. cake mix
1 cup softened butter 3 eggs
1 (8 oz.) package cream cheese, softened 1 tsp. vanilla extract
1 pound box powdered sugar 1 1/2 cups chopped pecans
Preheat oven to 300 degrees. Grease and flour a 9 x 13 inch cake pan. Mix
cake mix, 1/2 cup butter and 1 egg. Press into pan. In a separate bowl,
combine softened cream cheese, 1/2 c. butter, remaining 2 eggs, vanilla
and powdered sugar until smooth. Pour over cake mixture. Sprinkle top
with pecans. Bake about 55 minutes or until filling appears set when pan is
gently shaken. Cool completely on wire rack. Cut into bars of desired size.
PEANUT SITTING PRETTIES
Made with M&M Peanut Chocolate Candies/Makes about 2 dozen cookies
1/2 C. butter, softened 1/4 C. firmly packed brown sugar
1 egg separated 1/2 t. vanilla
1 C. all-purpose flou 1/4 t. salt
Finely chopped nuts
1 can vanilla creamy-type frosting
M&M Peanut Chocolate Candies
Blend butter and sugar in a bowl; stir in egg yolk and vanilla. Sift flour and
salt into bowl; mix well. Chill 1 hour. Roll into 1-inch balls.
Dip into slightly beaten egg white. Roll in nuts. Place 1-inch apart on cookie
sheet.Bake at - 350 - 5 minutes. Press thumb gently in center of each; bake
5 minutes longer. Cool. Fill with frosting. Garnish with M&Ms.
COCOA QUICKIES
You could make this on National Cocoa Day December 13th!
1/2 cup milk 1/2 cup butter
2 cups white sugar 6 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
3 cups rolled oats 1 cup shredded coconut (optional)
DIRECTIONS: Place the milk, butter, sugar and cocoa in a medium sized
saucepan and bring to a full rolling boil. Boil for one minute. Remove from
heat and stir in oats. Mix in coconut, if desired. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto
waxed paper. Let stand until set. Quickies may be refrigerated to speed

Deadline For Gifted And
Talented STUDENTS Screening
Beginning in November, Katy ISD students in grades 1-4 and 6-11 can be
referred for screening for the 2017-2018 gifted and talented program.
Parents must complete a Parent Checklist which can be obtained from
the student’s school or from the Katy ISD website.
The deadline for completing and returning the Parent Checklist is
December 6, 2017. Checklists which are not returned by the deadline
will not be screened for service for the 2017-2018 school year. The
State of Texas requires that various types of measures be used to
identify students for gifted programs which includes observations and
standardized tests. The program for elementary students consists of
a one-day pullout in the Challenge classroom with a teacher trained
in gifted education. Transfer students who were screened in Fall 2017
must wait one full academic year before they can be rescreened. Parents
may contact campus counselors, elementary Challenge teachers or G/T
facilitators if they have additional questions. They can visit the Katy

beloved visit with Santa at Bass Pro Shop! He always makes
sure to stock up on reindeer food while he’s there!
Funniest Christmas Memory: “One year we were headed to Dickens on the strand and we found out a
cold front was coming into town. I spent the entire evening in our hotel sewing furry capes so the family
would not freeze. It was 27 degrees that year. Because of all the fur, our hotel room looked like a wild
animal was turned loose in there and shed its winter coat.”
Shopping Logistics: This smart mama pays extra on the family bills all year so that at Christmas time, she’s
sitting on a nice credit to use towards presents, festivities and feasts. School book drives and other similar

Journey to Bethlehem
December 7-10, 2017
Start your journey here, experience the night hope was born. Journey to
Bethlehem is an outdoor, walk-through drama portraying the birth of Christ.
In 2016, nearly 6,000 guests followed the winding trail, led by experienced
guides, through a series of live action scenes, tracing the journey Mary and
Joseph took centuries ago. Your travels will lead you through the village of
Nazareth, into the camp of the Magi, past the Roman census and open-air
markets of Judea, ultimately ending at the simple manger where Christmas
began and hope was born. For the last fifteen years, Current - A Christian
Church has been presenting this event to the Katy community. Each year
the event grows. With live animals and more than 200 actors in costume,
Journey to Bethlehem, is an annual tradition for many and serves to remind
everyone who participates of the true meaning and impact of Christmas.
