STYLEBEAT NOVEMBER 2017 LATEST EDITION

Passion! That's my driving force, it's always been; that is what has kept me up at night organizing and searching for the right people to work with. I know it's expected for one to think, oh well, passion is all there is to it... but No Way! It actually takes much more than passion. Persistence and perseverance must also be in the mix for a dream to come true. Click and read more of our latest edition of the STYLE BEAT MAG. NG. AFRICA'S REPRESENTATIVES, WORLD CUP DRAWS AND THEIR CHANCES.
B Y J U L I U S A K P O G U M A
Qualifications for the world cup - Russia 2018 - signaled a resurgence of a
regional power house in African football; North African countries convincingly
earned 3 out of 5 places to represent the continent at the mun-dial after keenly
contested rounds of qualifiers involving all football teams of the member-states
of CAF.
The dominance of North African club-sides on continental stage has never
yielded a more flattering result when it comes to National team football as the
qualifications for Russia 2018 has recently revealed.
If the qualifications for the world cup turns out as true reflections of the strength
of the regions in African football, then the next best side after North Africa will be
West Africa, with Nigeria and Senegal each securing one of the remaining 2
tickets to the world cup.
The other regions will have to wait for the next world cup qualifications,
hopefully, the proposed increment in the number of countries participating at
the world cup would see the light of day sooner than later.
Basic facts about Africa's representatives to the World Cup.
• Nigeria have made the most appearance (6) at the World Cup out of all 5
representatives from Africa.
• The Super Eagles of Nigeria have reached the knock out stages (round of 16) on
3 different occasions and have never gone beyond the round of 16.
• Of all the countries going to the world cup only Senegal has never won the
African Cup of Nations (AFCON); there is a total of 12 AFCON titles between the 4
countries going to compete in Russia.
• Egypt has won the most AFCON titles with an unparalleled 7 time winner's
record, Nigeria is recognised as 3-time champions. Morocco and Tunisia each
have a trophy to their credit.
